RWC: Australia - Ireland (17-09-2011 20:30)

Ireland beating the same line up that beat NZ a few weeks ago, what does this say about nz??? :(

maybe ireland just have the right conditions tonight

Really?

No David Pocock
No Steven Moore
No Digby Ioane

So,not the same line-up at all. These three were key players in that match.

It's useless performance. Italy can still oust Ireland with a simple win if they take max points against Russia and USA.

History supports the All Blacks at Eden Park though. You can say what you like about the All Blacks choking at world cups but any team that plays the All Blacks in Auckland gets thoroughly dismantled.

Not true!

We hammered you..........16 - 10....................in 1973

What a game! Hats off to the Irish, you boys definitely deserved that! Thought Sexton had a cracking tactical game, even if his goal kicking was a bit iffy. Sean O'Brien had an excellent game, carried really well and did the hard yards.
This has blown things wide open for the quarters for Pool C and D, though Ireland still have a very tricky obstacle in Italy to play just yet, and god knows who's gonna come where in Pool D, even SA's top spot isn't guaranteed - Samoans will certainly have something to say about it anyway (game tomorrow is a huge one for Pool D tbf!). Also means that if it is a South Africa vs Australia 1/4 final, the winner will be up against the All Blacks in the semis (if everything goes to plan for them anyway!). Gotta love the unpredictability of the World Cup!

I thought O'Gara made the biggest impact tonight. His kicking game is superb. The Wallabies could have taken that game in the last 15 minutes with their fitness but he managed to play the territory game and keep Australia under pressure. Top effort.

Great to see the players simply brushing it down and saying they not happy until they get that Semi Final target.

As if Ireland can be raving about themselves. They just slowed our ball down all game and got lucky scrum penalties. We didn't play well at all, and what the hell were they thinking not taking the 3 points with 2 minutes to go, that is absolutely stupid.

Congrats to Ireland with all those maul turnovers. Brilliant stuff. But in their next game if they try to slow the ball down like that they will get hammered in the penalty count. And they wont be able to win on penalties...

Yupp agree 100% how key those guys are, always kind of felt that for all the talent the Aussies have in their team that they might find themselves a bit buggered if they get injuries to key players. Could really see how much they missed Pocock at the breakdown today, his replacement (was it Higginbotham?) was very anonymous today! Missed Ioane's powerful running lines too, though Australia lost this game in the pack.

This result means that it is highly likely that it will be a NH v SH final. ( Aus, SA and NZ on one side) and ( Ireland, England and France on the other)

So very probable situation before Ireland-Italy

1. Australia 15 pts
2. Ireland 13 pts
3. Italy 10 pts.

It seems IRB-loved Ireland can still be f*cked.

Could you please stop with the foul language.

And yeah. We can all add thanks.

Cian Healy got MOTM but well I must say Paul O'Connell showed that he is in the top 3 locks in the world even when Ireland were off form lately he was performing.
Also O'Brien and Ferris are really worldclass too.

And Rory Best the last few weeks has upped his class big time.

Disagree, Irish scrum was clearly dominant.

Lucky scrum penaltys?? Your props were losing there bind, binding on the arms, hinging just popping up, dropping the scrum. You can't fix a weak scrum in a couple of weeks it takes years. And the Aussie scrum is still weak as was shown today.
