The Guinness Premiership's salary cap will remain at £4m for each club following a meeting of member teams.

A cut of £500,000 had been proposed to help clubs threatened by the economic downturn, but it will remain at its current level for the next two seasons.[/b]

While further down in the article it mentioned only three clubs were profitable last year, there have been signs of improvement with Harlequins an example of a club who are broadening their horizons. Maintaining the salary cap is the right thing to do, especially with new improved TV deals coming into force in both the Premiership and Heineken Cup.

I think its the best compromise possible. With more TV money coming in as well as the gradual increase in attendences, more clubs are starting to break even. Note that Bath would be generating a profit if someone gets off of their lazy arse and sorts out their stadium issues. They desperately need more advertising space and executive boxes to satisfy the huge queue of businesses willing to sponsor/rent them on matchdays.
