Italy v New Zealand - 23/11/2024 (20.10)

So do the best teams get a free ride or do the best teams get themselves in position to get favourable calls?

@TRF_Olyy do we start a ref chat and ban small ref chat in these threads because match threads are getting chronic?....
They generally get the rub if the green, although in T1/T2 the teams are definitely reffed differently.

The RWC really exposed that.

That call tonight was obvious though - how many penalties do you have to give away 5 metres from your line to get a PT given against you?. New Zealand are professional cheats - they've been the same for years. Fed up of watching it time after time.

Feel like it's mostly people with an axe to grind, rather than general chat overwhelming everything

There was nothing wrong with the reffing of todays game, anyone claiming bias came into it wanting to see it

Fair fair and I agree. Just boring as though.

Rare that refs are rarely so bad that they affect anything.

PT's are for incidents stopping a guaranteed tey these days. Multiple penos are when cards are / should be dished.

New Zealand are professional cheats
All rugby players are cheats.
All professional rugby players are professional cheats.
If you're not cheating, you're not trying.
Cheating is the oldest, and generally the most cherished tradition of our sport.

Hell, the sport was invented by some stroppy posh kid cheating at football!

claasic tj taking the opportunity to make a political statement at the start if the haka, in his last game. well played

Oh my sweet summer child. You know nothing of AB bullshittery induced pain.

Am I the only one that now finds the Haka a complete joke?. I used to love it years ago but now it's been commercialised to within an inch of it's life and I find the whole "theatre" around it just boring. Italy and France doing light shows for it is just embarrassing. Get on with the game and stop wasting everyone's time. Why World Rugby are so deferential to it I have absolutely no idea - bin it off.

So, on the one hand I think it is a clear advantage. It's literally a warcry - they used to use those in war for a reason.

On the other hand, its a very successful example of indigenous cultural history being recognised, respected and incorporated into a largely western culture - something my own country is absolutely garbage at. On that front I can't help but respect it - even if it has been commercialised/overdone a bit. I think this is more important than any advtange they might gain from it in a sporting sense.

Reckon it should be a Wales roof situation. Both teams agree or bin it.

IMO it should be a home game only thing, but could agree with the above (not that anyone would ever say no)
Yeah fair, one thing I'd say is none of it st a World Cup.

Ridiculous that a team should alter their highly specialised prep for a game against NZ or the island teams.

Will never happen though. Too much of a gimmick for World Rugby not to flaunt.

1. Teams that possess the ball will get calls going their way

2. Weaker times are slower to breakdown so they'll giveaway more penalties/the defending team will have more leeway on slowing the ball down

3. I enjoy the conspiracy theories we get in every thread

Point 3 is where we differ friend. God forbid we think refs are mostly good at what they do (Dupont boost aside ofc!).

Torino hosted the game wonderfully

Tourists from everywhere for the AB actually enjoyed my lovely city

And the game was cool too.

Italy shirt was superb and so menoncello's try.

Viva il rugby.
