Grand Slam champions against the Grand Slam hopefuls.

Australia have completed the first leg of their grand slam tour and now move onto Dublin for their clash with Ireland.

It's certainly going to be a headache for Croke Park to have everything ready on time what with the playoff match against France taking place on Saturday evening, leaving precious little time to have Croker ready for the 15h kickoff the following day.

Ireland not coming into this in ideal shape given the lack of game time for key players, Hayes, Flannery, Ferris and the lack of form of O'Gara who looks set to start on Sunday despite the form of Sexton in the last 6 months.

Potential for a cracking match though, bring it on.

Ireland on form would win this. Ireland with a few returning players and an out-of-sorts ROG will leave Aus with a great chance to win. It will indeed by a cracking match.

Anyone else noticed that Australia v Ireland fixtures get extremely (alomost unusually) heated? Something that's always puzzled me.

Coz yer all a bunch o' c***s :D
Nah seriously the Irish pack is mean and so is the Oz one. Drisco is not the most peaceful guy as well so...

been some small incidents but don't remember any major moments of animosity, do remember O'Driscoll trying to pull the dreadlocks off Smith but I thought that was hilarious. Maybe I'm missing something from other games.

When I was at the match in 2002 there were Aussie fans who were more ****** off that New Zealand were leading at Twickenham and that we paraded the Melbourne Cup at half time so it must just be on the pitch, unless there's spite on other boards.

Nowhere near as heated as International Rules Football between Ireland and Australia...

It's supposed to be back on in 2010...shame they didn't hold it this year.

Anyway, the Rugby should be brilliant. I think both teams will be trying to smash eachother.
C'mon Ireland!

The footballers are too soft to compete with the Aussies so the rules were changed. Should have just sent down a Senior hurling team to sort them out.

After Aussie win today it has raised the stakes even more.
Really think Ireland set-up to do clean sweep in AI's.

Hope to see maybe Fitz & BOD in Centre with Earls Bowe and Kearney back 3.

Sexton can really raise his reputation on to world stage if allowed make statement he capable of.
But ROG can also change his season if he starts and rises to the competition.

Ah international rules, the best excuse on earth to go to an Irish pub and annoy people with unbridled enthusiasm (read: annoying shouting) and an astonishing ignorance of the actual game. Whenever I do though everyone gets bored until the players fight and conversation turns to rugby, a game that actually makes sense.

As for the game at hand, Australia will have to retain ball and work harder around the ruck if they have any hope of a win. At the moment the wallabies don't build pressure, they loose the ball in contact and don't commit to the breakdown. Ireland will punish the wallabies if they give them as much ball as they gave England. The midfield battle will be interesting and Ireland will probably be sending quite a few players down that channel.

Anyway, we've got the underdog tag in this game which is great, I'll enjoy watching this one.

After today Austrailia red-hot favourites we mightn't even turn up

A lot depends on how Ireland's outhalf plays. If an on-form O'Gara or Sexton shows up, Ireland will win by 10. If O'Gara shows his current Munster form or Sexton is nervous on his debut, Australia could sneak it. My guess is we'll see 60 minutes of O'Gara, 20 minutes of Sexton and Ireland struggling to a narrow 3 point win. This is the game I'm most worried about since I think Ireland will handle Fiji and South Africa with little difficulty.

Ireland will handle South Africa with little dificulty? Do you know something that I don't? Fill me in.

I think ireland are in with a very good chance of winning this,
Though Australia beat England today, they didn't do it incredibly convincingly, and as ireland are a stronger team than England, they've obviously got a better chance

My thoughts.

Simple. South Africa aren't that good.

SA are blowhards who will fall apart when hit by a team that has confidence in its set piece play and genuine talent across the backline.

We would have seen it if France hadn't spoiled the AB party in 2007, and we nearly saw it on the Lions tour.

Ireland could do it. We have a good recent record against the Saffers. And it is Croker. And Kidney is a genius compared to PDV. But my money stays in my pocket.

Austrailia were very good at stages today but agreed England bottled it.

Still think we'll sneak win and South Africa will be a difficult gan=me but think we'll sneak that too but no game will be easy.
At end of day it all depends which team performs on day

Still think Lions should have won 3-0. Bad selections.

LOL, I think the Lions should have won the last three series, except they didn't, due to being out classed.

Are people serious about SA being easier then Aus? Aus have been shite all year, and SA have been on their best form. On the game Ireland vs Australia, I believe for Ireland to win, they need to attack the mid field constantly. Match ups will be interesting.
