Ireland 'A' Squad Announced For Argentina Clash

The Ireland 'A' squad for Friday's international encounter with Argentina Jaguares at Tallaght Stadium (kick-off 7.30pm) has been named.

The selected Ireland 'A' panel shows several changes to the squad that was on duty for the 48-19 win over Tonga at Ravenhill two weeks ago.

Isaac Boss, Ian Humphreys, Ian Keatley, Andy Kyriacou, Brett Wilkinson, Mike Ross, Bryan Young and Johne Murphy are retained from that game, as well as Chris Henry, Fergus McFadden and Donnacha Ryan.
Henry, McFadden and Ryan will be joining up with the 'A' squad after being involved in the senior set-up at the start of this week.

There is one place remaining that will be confirmed when the starting line-up and replacements are named by Ireland 'A' coach Michael Bradley and team manager Joey Miles on Wednesday at 1pm.

No tv coverage again for this one, no sign of RTÉ streaming it either. Thought they would do considering there was nothing to clash with it unlike the France South Africa match 2 weeks ago.

REPLACEMENTS:

It's a much weaker team than that which started against Tonga. Dowling, Matthews, Fogarty, Ronan and Muldoon are good provincial players but none will ever likely feature for a full strength Ireland team. Johne Murphy could fall into that category too. Jones, McFadden, Humphreys, the props, Ryan and Caldwell all offer Ireland something down the line though probably not just yet. O'Driscoll and Boss are deserved selections based on their form this season. I'm happy for O'Driscoll since he's often misjudged as an average player by those outside his native province.

It's great that the team has been changed so much since the win against Tonga since it'll help alleviate player burnout and gives the coaching staff an opportunity to test new players.

Kickass. Suppose with the main squad as decimated as it is the jaguars never stood a chance.

Like I said. The World's Greatest 'A' team.

I'll be well ****** off if they go ahead and give our wonderful 'A' team a nickname.
