Hernandez to the Sharks !

According to Midi Olympique (who's not always reliable) after Freddie Michalak, the Natal Sharks signed argentinian fly half / fullback / centre Juan Martin Hernandez for one year.

His contract with Paris is still running for a year but he's unhappy here and Stade Français's owner Max Guazzini wants to drop his massive salary out of the books. He was linked to Toulon and Bayonne too.

What are your toughts ? If it's effective where will he play with Pienaar and Terblanche on the roster ? Can he do better than Michalak ?

Queensland could've really done with him. Has he been playing flyhalf or fullback for Paris?

Read a report last week about Lee Byrne also being set up for a move to South Africa.

Cant see the money adding up for either of them, but you never know. Could make sense for an Argentinian.

As I remember he was fly half for Paris (as I remember)

Great deal for Argentina's rugby ;)

He's fly half most of the time since RWC 2007 yes.[/b]

Yes and I think he was one of the key players in Argentina's success that year

He appeared to be good fly half that's a fact

I bet he will play as fullback and Pienaar as fly half. But i think he is much better as fly half.

Read in the newspaper today that Western Province was also fishing for his services, with Frans Steyn going to France and Terblanche not as his best at the moment I also expect that Hernandez will play at fullback with Pienaar at 10

Well great flow of players among NH and SH teams

News to me that he signed. I've actually seen an article where the Sharks management says they won't be signing him

Argentina's Juan Martin Hernandez had verbally agreed to join Toulon before deciding to sign for South Africa's Natal Sharks, according to reports in France.

Rugbyrama.com says Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal was so confident of securing 'El Mago' that he even informed his staff on Monday night that Hernandez would be joining.

The Argentine was apparently prepared to play full-back with England's Jonny Wilkinson and fellow Puma Felipe Contepomi sharing the fly-half duties.

"I can tell you that on Monday night, before going to bed, I announced to the staff and Philippe Saint-Andre that Hernandez had signed for Toulon. But on Tuesday morning that was no longer the case," said Boudjellal.

"To tell you how well the negotiations were going we were discussing the second plane ticket for his girlfriend," added the Toulon president.

Hernandez had reportedly agreed a three-year deal before electing to sign for the Sharks instead, but Boudjellal remains confident that the mercurial Argentine could still join Toulon at the end of his one-year contract in South Africa.[/b]

Juan Martin Hernandez scored 24 points as the Sharks, behind at the break, came back with a stirring performance in the second half that saw them edge the Blue Bulls 23-29 in an exciting Currie Cup match at Loftus on Saturday.[/b]

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
Less than three minutes into the second half, however, Hernandez broke through four feeble Blue Bulls tackles to score next to the posts and put his side 13-12 ahead.[/b]

Looks like Hernandez is doing well down south.

Wait, when did Contempomi join Toulon?

Why am I not informed about these things?
