France vs Afrique du Sud

That's a big, physical team. Quite obvious the French are gonna aim for the gapping hole in our centers that is Adi Jacobs, by picking David at 12. To be fair to Jacobs he seems to have recovered from the shoulder injury he picked up during the S14. He should never played the Lions so unfit, I blame PdV for that because he played excellent rugby last year. I dunno what's with PdV picking players that are unfit. Look at Chiliboy now, wasn't fit for the CC final barely 6 days before, and lasted 20 mins against Leicester. Not good for a players long term career, agrievating an injury can have serious complications. I just hope van der Merwe doesn't get an injury after just coming back from a serious knee injury, he hasn't played since April FFS and got thrown into tighthead, which I've never seen him play, when the scrum was going backwards dangerously fast. I predict Strauss and van der Linde on the subs for the fatty's, here's hoping PdV knows what I do ;)

SA starting announced. No big surprises really, apart maybe Kirchner at fullback.

15 Zane Kirchner, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Adi Jacobs, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Fourie du Preez, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Schalk Burger, 6 Heinrich Brüssow, 5 Victor Matfield, 4 Bakkies Botha, 3 John Smit, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Beast Mtawarira.
Subs: 16 Adriaan Strauss, 17 Wian du Preez, 18 CJ van der Linde, 19 Andries Bekker, 20 Danie Rossouw, 21 Ruan Pienaar, 22 Wynand Olivier.

Steve-o, David will play at 13. Mermoz will play at 12, and he will try to run around Jacobs and put David in space or give him room to bash into the midfield at full tilt.

Just run over Jacobs it's much easier. I'm really worried about Jacobs playing inside centre he is farking useless.

Jacobs is really the least of our worries with Kirchner at the back, his positioning is terrible, kicking average and tackling suspect. Thank god Habana is and JPP are on his wings.
Everybody, including me, thought Jacobs was gonna be a liability last year but he was in fact our best back! He hasn't been 100% fit for awhile but starting coming right in the CC. Him and Fourie can make a good center partnership.

Fair call, Kirchner can have the odd good game, though having Stefan Terblanche there would make me far more at ease. The poor bugger should be rewarded with a few tests for going back to play in SA, and then playing outstanding well (far better than Kirchner anyway)

Well Kirchner is at least a recognized fullback. Jacobs is better suited to play 13, his defense is no where near what it should be and we saw it in the Lions tour he can't tackle and he is scared to tackle. He is in the team because of the color of his skin.

Don't know wtf do they pick an outside center in Jacobs at inside center, Wynand Olivier is the best inside center in the country currently.

+1 Terblanche is an awesome player. Certainly the best SA fullback by a country mile...

My thoughts exactly

Kirchner and Jacobs are going to be eaten alive... Although i agree with Steve-O, i am a lot more worried about Kirchner.

To be honest, I'm more concerned about the forwards; our scrum and actually France has the more physical so we will have to be the smart pack. Kanko adds zero physicality as does Brussouw. Burger isn't what he was although a stint on the sidelines has seen his game improve recently. Combine that with holes in the backline and this game might not even be ours to lose. We have done well in the past with an in-form Jacobs and a not-so-hot fullback in Jantjes but at that time we were without a doubt the dominant pack. Not so sure we are that for this match.

That said, between Kanko and Adi and to a lesser extent Kirschner we should have a better running game.. I seriously cannot see where this is going but I'm sure tis gonna be a close game. I miss Frans Steyn allready...

I don't think there is anything to worry about in Kankowski. The man is a fantastic player!

In open space

Whats he gonna do when France make it a real ugly battle up front.

Mermoz and David should really show up this South Africa centre pairing. They are faster runners and Mermoz´s handling skills could really expose Jacobs. It is a recipe to work in combination with Harinordiquey.

The skills of Trinh-Duc´s running game could be very good against the Springboks. If they set a game plan to link with Mermoz and the wingers via offloads they could, again, expose the defence of Jabobs.

I have got to say its the worst looking Bokke bench I have seen since the 2003 World Cup. It does explain the Bokke forward dominated game plan of course. But some of the players there are vastly inferior to those used this year vs Lions, Australia and New Zealand.

I think France should win this game.

Bullshit. Although us Bok supporters are made paranoid by the politics as to who is a quota player, Jacobs is not a quota player. It ****** me off when a black player is out of form people cry quota player. He is obviously a PdV favourite, who has coached him since his Falke days. Of course we have quota players but Jacobs proved his worth last year when Fourie got injured. He stepped up to the plate. He was injured during the Lions tour and should have never played. If I remember correctly it was suggested that his shoulder injury needed surgery but Bok management decided not to risk not having available for the B&I Lions Tests.

I can agree that Olivier is in many ways unlucky not to be in the starting XV, but him and Fourie are very similiar in style. Jacobs is more creative than either.Olivier is on the bench so relax boet.

Totally agree, Jacobs is a quality player and was the Boks second best back last season. Olivier to my mind offers little except being direct, he doesnt break the line, have the pace or step of Jacobs the only part of his game that is better is his defense. For me Olivier has and always will be an average player, why dont they bring in garbage like JP Nel if they are just interested in defense.

Also agree on Jacobs. He is a fantastic little player on his day. Now, i'm willing to bet all of you, that the first try scored, will be a direct result of either a Zane Kirchner kick, or a Zane Kirchner balls-up.

Any takers?
