France Team, Six Nations 2013

yeh, I'm very disappointed Domingo's left out...I think it's a bit ridiculous. How the FK do they not select Domingo ?!!!! Why ?! What's the possible reason for that ?!...

And then the whole famous controversy: why is Fofana playing wing in stead of center. I have no idea what's going on there, it's like PSA feels he needs to prove a point with him at the wing and is stubborn to change his mind now...it feels that way.

Second controversy (again): Huget.

Selection not a major issue for this match as they should win by 30+!!

^ hehe cool sig. !

Uhmmm...yeah sucks not seeing Malzieu, Domingo...and CAREFUL WITH THAT man !! You'll feel sorry when we barely make it out of the match by 4 points !! :p

I agree with most of the selections. Domingo hasn't been up to his usua standards, being second in performance to Chaume for Clermont (I admit I'm basing this statement more on vox populi than on my own perception).
The back three looks very thin at the moment, with Palisson, Médard and Malzieu all just coming back from injury (Médard has been playing quite bad too, and Malzieu would have to tear the world appart to play for France again after his last two games). Fofana playing wing looks more like a need than anything else. The other option would have been Buttin, but I don't think his defense is up to it, and the way international rugby is played nowadays makes his lack of kicking game too important to play fullback. He's been working on it, so we'll see soon if he can make it passable for international standard. Playing him at the wing would have been a good choice, and is actually my only disagreement with PSA (I would have left Bastareaud out).

Given that the backline looks like already lacking options, I don't think we'll see the much dreaded 6/2 split. If all the backrowers are fit, either Dusautoir or Chouly will go back home.

never got to watch that last Clermont match...was Malzieu that bad ?
And what would you say's wrong about him, his defense ?...I'm sorry we won't see him this tournament, he brings soooo much flair to that wing position...
yehhh Médard never really got back to form since his stupid injury a year ago...ffs !!...

"LouisE Picamoles"

And this basically summarizes it for France:
"If it weren't for their unfavourable draw, France would be the clear favourites for the ***le. Back-to-back trips to Twickenham and Dublin present a steep challenge, which is why the bookies have them narrowly behind England in the odds."

can someone post the matchday team please, can't seem to find it

Not announced yet I don't think, only the squad:

Les 24 pour Italie-France :

Avants (14) : Debaty (Clermont), Forestier (Castres), Szarzewski (Racing-Métro), Kayser (Clermont), Ducalcon (Racing-Métro), Mas (Perpignan), Papé (Stade Français, capitaine), Maestri (Toulouse), Taofifenua (Perpignan), Dusautoir (Toulouse), Nyanga (Toulouse), Picamoles (Toulouse), Ouedraogo (Montpellier), Chouly (Clermont)

Arrières (10) : Machenaud (Racing-Métro), Parra (Clermont), Michalak (Toulon), Trinh-Duc (Montpellier), Mermoz (Toulon), Fritz (Toulouse), Bastareaud (Toulon), Fofana (Clermont),Fall (Racing-Métro), Huget (Toulouse)

well well there good Sir, your enthusiasm for the language is much appreciated ! :D

and yeh I think PSA gives a final call on like Friday...very late.
Think you can add Médard in there too btw.

Our back row is decimated...:(
Not having Clerc, Malzieu, Dulin, etc...is a real pain, and Medard is not more what he used to be...Fall and Huget, WTF ?!
I predict a very average tournament with narrow wins against Italy, Scotland, and losses against Wales and Ireland and as usual a consistent demolition by England.
At least Mr PSA please please do not put Fofana on the wing.....

wowwwwwwww, seriously you predict all that ?!!
I wouldn't say exactly "decimated", there are still some interesting "young" prospects, some solid play and of course the return of Bastareaud which will be anything but boring to watch...Fofana will surely score a try or more...it SUCKSSSSS for Clerc though, yes...when's he available again ??!

And I'm not even sure if you're joking tbh, it's a bit strange but...you...you actually predict a couple of wins for France this year ? :p

Can you tell me which "young prospects" in the backs ?
Fall, Huget, Mermoz, Fritz, are not exactly what I would call "young".

We have a difficult tournament with 3 matches away including I believe England and Ireland, added to the number of injuries, the usual lack of training of the team compared to our opponents, yes I predict a bad tournament for us.
Then, Wales even at home will be complicated; we may win it if we defend as we did during the autumn tour, but I really don't see us winning in Ireland, not to talk about England of course...

Last year we were 3 times at home and managed to get a draw and a loss at home against precisely the countries that we're going to travel to this year.

^ yep we know, everybody's been sayin this. "Couldn't beat them at home last year, how are you going to do away this year ?"
but we're a completely different team this year, we're a whole June+Autumn tests away now. There are notable new faces on the squad man, c'mon lol. It's like you're saying all this to shield yourself against potential misfortune. Have a bit of faith ffs, you're talking as if we were the shittiest team in the world lol, like we're lepers or smt ! :p

And we had a crappy tournament anyways last year, certainly subpar performances (with some good here and there). For a RWC finalist, we should have finished 2nd at least, but finished 4th. Just an uninspired tournament we kind of never got into. On paper, we were better than most teams, including England...but anyways.

Oh by "young" I meant guys like Machenaud at scrum-half, and Huget and Fall who have little experience playing for France, esp. Fall.
Like, Huget isn't young (I know he's from 1987) but he's got like...10 caps or smt....should be nice to see those guys perform at int'l level is what I mean here.

And boy, lighten up man !!;)

Dear yoe91,

If you are younger than 12 year old, I salute you...

Back on topic, Parra is the same age as Machenaud, so I don't know that do you mean by mentioning him as young.
Besides I'd have Parra in starting line-up any day, anyway. Even being quite slim he is a beast in defence.

Also, I still doubt PSA as a coach of France. He does not seem like having long term vision and I doubt some of his selections.

Fofana isn't young either. His problem is that he joined a "serious" club only when he was 20.

ok fiiiiiiiiiiiine, remove the word "young".
"Relatively (well totally in Machenaud's case in fact) inexperienced in int'l tests." is more accurate.
I'm excited to see those aforementioned guys in this tournament and see what they can bring, and if they can do it with consistency.
