England vs Wales - 12/08/23

I think it's all been part of a master plan to make Argentina grossly underestimate us. Come 9th September the real England will show up. 🤨

Can someone explain to me what Malins bring to an England shirt? He's not that quick, hasn't got any kind of step, not that big, and only appears average in the air. Granted I've not watched a lot of him in the prem, but there seem to be players with a lot more threat to them being omitted (Radwan being one example). The fact that he's had more game time than Arundel is also a little astonishing. So please, someone, let me know what I'm missing.
Maybe because he can also play full back, and is one of the two England players who managed to score more than one try in the 6N

I head Borthwick doesn't just have an ace up his sleeve, he's got a whole deck of cards.

Watson, Daly play fullback and doesn't Arundell as well? So we hardly need the cover there. As for the tries, if memory serves they weren't exactly highlight reel stuff. Don't get me wrong. He seems solid enough, but at this level, with a RWC to be won, is solid what we really need?

Non-highlight reel tries still need finishing.
Depends.
If I like player X - "I'd rather have a lucky player than a good player, besides there's a value in putting yourself in the right place"
If I dislike player X - "Meh, everyone else did the work, all they had to do was catch the ball and fall over"

Do Wales have much more than scratch/experimental? when you think of the recent retirements, even last week featured a fair few players either earning first caps or inexperienced, as much as I hate to give too much credit to Gatland, a lot of it can only be a testament to him, after the 6 nations defeat to Italy and a generally dark phase for Welsh rugby he's got them up for it and showing fight, (that's a good foundation to build from), apparently superior fitness too, much of this seems to some extent what England are hugely lacking at times.

Seems to be half Wales' first played last week and half this week. Next week will say more about Wales than this week. This match is massive. It will set the tone for the whole competition

Conceding twice as many points per opposition entry to our 22 as we score on entry to theirs, this year
Dreadful
