Surprised no one here's mentioned this -

Attwood:

"When we were in Argentina [the summer tour of 2013], the message I got from Lancaster was that he wanted me to be the biggest, most powerful second-row on the planet so I went out and got stronger than anyone else.

"Then in New Zealand [the summer tour of 2014], it was decided I needed to be trimmer and he wanted me to be more mobile on the pitch so I did that. Throughout the World Cup camps I was one of the fittest forwards on the conditioning side.

"I was also involved in 19 of the last 23 Test matches for England leading up to the squad announcement ... then I was cut out of the loop.

Kruis was apparently one of the fittest guys on the tour, seriously high scores. Launch is a potentially world class lock. Parling is a very solid old head who's never let us down, and Lawes was part of a fantastic pairing with Launch. Unfortunately for Attwood, and regardless of the mixed signals he was sent, lock is a position of strength for England. That said, I'd have taken him.

They did look a bit too skinny in the WC

I think when Attwood is on form and firing, he has no obvious weakness and seriously shores up our set pieces without sacrificing open field play. I think him and Launchbury would be a great pairing. It's more on the heavy weight side but they aren't exactly lacking in athelticism and I think some good power in the engines would be helpful.

Yup, if everyone is on form then Attwood is in my starting XV every week.

Launchbury and Attwood is a great pairing.

Launchbury is you full paddock lock, who can get around the whole park.

Attwood is strong in the tight areas and has a very strong carrying game.

Both able to win line outs... To me no contest they should be first choice.

Last year, everyone was banging on about Stooke; what's happened to him?

Was the year before i think?

I don't know i think coaches were looking at more experienced second rowers as the Glous set piece was iffy.

He will prob look elsewhere at the end of his contract if he dosn't get more game time, Maybe Quins?

Don't forget lawes, he tops the turn over stats......turnovers conceded that is

Sharing the love for Attwood and heavy duty locks generally.

Lawes has always looked more like a 6 to me. I know he had one miserable outing for Eng, but given some club time there I think it might have been his natural home, especially if paired with a real dog on the floor. Will be interested to see what Jones does with 6. My guess is he'll start with a non captaining Robshaw.

Agree that his game is more naturally suited to 6 but because of his build he is a lock...

Launchwood can now be considered an 'item' and I hope they have a long and 'productive' relationship together.
I'd certianly rather avoid any of this 'Launchling' or 'Attling' nonsense.
