How does this pandemic end?

giphy.gif

I think at a time a lot of us are stuck indoors we look after out and out families's mental health, as well as physical health. So remember APPLE:

  • Acknowledge: Notice and acknowledge the uncertainty as it comes to mind.
  • Pause: Don't react as you normally do. Don't react at all. Pause and breathe.
  • Pull back: Tell yourself this is just the worry talking, and this apparent need for certainty is not helpful and not necessary. It is only a thought or feeling. Don't believe everything you think. Thoughts are not statements or facts.
  • Let go: Let go of the thought or feeling. It will pass. You don't have to respond to them. You might imagine them floating away in a bubble or cloud.
  • Explore: Explore the present moment, because right now, in this moment, all is well. Notice your breathing and the sensations of your breathing. Notice the ground beneath you. Look around and notice what you see, what you hear, what you can touch, what you can smell. Right now. Then shift your focus of attention to something else - on what you need to do, on what you were doing before you noticed the worry, or do something else - mindfully with your full attention.

I was thinking more of cyclists if I'm honest I tried cut out all the humble brag stuff.

On my own front it's actually more complexities of the local area from my home. I know some guys whom have a very good 1km loop they do often but it's 4.5km away from me. From my own home I'm unsure if I could create a decent loop and keep within 2km and they ain't going measure these things as the crow flies. UK housing estates aren't really built for running around unless you keep to main walkways otherwise it's too twisty to be of benefit. Which are now massively 'congested' from people taking thier one form of exercise.

Nothing against you doing 5.5km anyone getting out there is doing themselves good I know loads people. I enjoy 8km to 16km distance more it's just what I do for exercise and the only form of exercise I haven't been diabolically **** at my entire life and the only one I've managed to sustain doing. It's just important to me to keep doing it. Like I said in Ireland it seams to me they just wanted to say shut the place down but didn't follow through.
Isn't a casual stroll still allowed providing you're on your own?
Guidelines state your allowed out once per day for exercise whether it be walking, running, cycling etc. by yourself or members of your household. A casual stroll would not be walking fast enough to constitute exercise according the NHS website you need to be going about 3mph for it to be a moderate activity and therefore be exercise. It appears to be fine though people appear to be more ****** off of people going for 2 runs a day than (according to police calls, seriously guys this is inane dobbing in your neighbours, social gatherings yes, people walking the dog twice....). I'm just ranting about it on a forum not shouting out my window for people to speed up.

Yes.
Yes it is

"Moderate Exercise" come somewhere inbetween "Gentle Exercise" and "Vigorous Exercise"
A gentle stroll absolutely, 100% IS "Exercise"

Oh, and FTR, 3.5 mph is average walking pace on the flat

I could of sworn you said otherwise earlier anyway I was going by this.

Anyway I know you know more about this stuff than me. So I'll bow to superior knowledge.

Trump attempting to use the crisis to hold political opponents to random, refusing to give said unless they act like sycophants. Apparently they must show how grateful they are in order to receive the aid... The man is a ******* psycho.

I can't understand how his approval rating is actually rising during all this. What is up with Americans thinking? It's so warped.

Flights with Ryannair were cancelled ,so applied for refund. Apparently ;
"Once approved your refund request will be automatically processed within 20 working days back onto the form of payment used in your booking. Your bank may then take 5-7 working days to process this refund amount back to your account."
FFS WHY SO LONG ? A month? Shocking service.
Some people will be desperate for that money to put bread on the table.
TBH I'm not confident about getting anything back at all and expect they'll go ***s up within the month.

Remember these are just polls and not necessarily accurate as we know from previous polls here, which turned out to be completely wrong. The election, if it goes ahead, will be decided by those 10-15% swing state voters in those vital swing states, who'll decide this election. It's their approval/vote Trump needs to win this election, and so far we don't know if these approval ratings are accurately reflected. Hopefully, most of these voters see Trump for who he is in this crisis and vote accordingly.

But having said that the signing of the cheques to American households is bloody genius on the part of his political strategists because Trump will take credit for it and most Americans will see him as a saviour for handing out free cash to them at this time, which ultimately they as the taxpayer will have to pay back. Pretty sick move.

The death toll relative to other countries may have far more to do with his re-election than giving away free cash. It really matters how badly that side goes wrong.

Really? Do you think the average American voter will really consider the death toll of America relative to other countries, especially with their inward-looking mindset? Not counting RugbyUSA or themole25.

Yes and no, do I think any staunch Trump supporter would care absolutely not.

However ads like this will possible penetrate with those swing voters.

There's a better one out there as well but I can't find it. Not saying it will certainly work but it's the only real chance they've got. If Trump can portray himself as mildly competent he'll win.

It's also worth pointing out that people may be carrying an injury or have some kind of disability that may prevent them from walking at any sort of pace. I once had a lower back muscle injury and the physio said slow walking helped to stretch muscles and keep the joints active. My 92 yo Gran does a lap of her old folks home every day for the same reason otherwise she'll get muscle wastage and her joints will give up.

I mean this should go without saying but in the age the internet I suppose it does. I'm talking about average people for whom this is not a problem. Reality is exercise (aerobic) is about elevated heart levels if your getting to right amount it doesn't matter what your doing.

I don't know if it will hurt trump with his voters but it will energize turnout. People are seeing how important a good leader is. Usually our day to day lives aren't really affected by the president, it's just an image thing. Right now we know that incompetence and pettiness can kill Americans at home. I'm not saying Biden would definitely handle this better, but the odds would be in his favor.

Trump is gambling isn't he? and this time he's gambling with American people's lives. He's thinking that this will be like the flu and kill about 40,000 in the densely populated urban areas. He doesn't give a **** about places like NY (Wall Street excluded) and California as he knows these states will most likely give their electoral college votes to Biden. And he's gambling that it doesn't affect the mid West where his voters and the also the rust belt states as much, where it's less densely populated and spread would not be as bad. And Florida with their elderly population and voters? Jeez, this guy is just a sick human being.

His "Easter reopening" boast as being a "beautiful timeline" and he would like to see the "packed churches", I think is another indication how sick an indivdual he is trying to equate himself as some kind of Jesus/saviour figure and the resurrection for his evangelical christian followers and appeal to their vote.

I sincerely hope he gets his comeuppence without any unnecessary loss of life, but I just can't see how he gets booted out this November unless he gets his gamble spectacularly wrong.

And if he Trump does get booted out in November? He'll relish the campaign trail again to go for election in 2024 knowing he can get one more term under the US constitution because Biden will be by then what 81 and would he last another 4 years in office.

Again, not really.
Aerobic exercise is, but "exercise", especially in an increasingly sedentary world, is about getting up and moving - moving joints and using muscles.
Some forms will raise your heart rate and leave you short of breath, others won't. Ideally, you want a mix, some strength training, some cardio and some simply time spent not sitting on your arse.

Repeatedly labelling it the Chinese virus is also quite telling. Trump is the only world leader who is doing that and he is clearly gearing himself up to deflect responsibility and start blaming everyone else but himself when the loss of life gets tallied up. This is all being done for the purposes of damage limitation amongst his own electorate and getting re elected.

When like SARS MERS it dies down.
We find out 70% or more were immune anyhow ( not herd immunity)
A vaccine is developed but like flu vaccine we expect 20+ k a year deaths as we do with flu.
We don't have any of above and strongest survive as Governments are only able to prop up economies so long before .....

You're right, you're too damn woke for us mere unthinking sheep. You saw all this coming from miles away because you are just so damn smart and we are all so stupid. If only we had your vast intellect and insight.

You can be as stupid as you like. I don't really care about you or anyone on the forum being thick as ****.

Its when the decision makers of the country **** it up so bad 'cos of their arrogance (or stupidity - its one of the two) and it affects people close to me I get really ****** off.
