Absolutely shocking. Tarnished a fantastic contest, there wont be too many warm welcomes for SA in the Autumn.[/b]

SA have never been the most loved team in the NH so nothing new there then.
[/b][/quote]

Neither South Hemisphere teams had been warmly welcomed in North so don't think that it's raining only above You guys ;)

Finally some unity here from both sides on one thing. PdV.

I've never seen or heard such mindless rambling from an international coach. Even if your not looking, you know in one second or less that your hand is on another players face and you damn well remove it. Burger was there for 4-5 seconds at least. How anyone can say thats unintentional is beyond me.

Maybe say what you like about the union for appointing him, but maybe give the SA fans a break though guys, they are behind ya on this one. :)

seriously wtf? why isn;t this man in a straight-jacket yet? Can't believe the 'ballet school' comment, what a prick...

The 'Lions in the Bushvelt' bit cracked me up though. I just have the image in my head of him going up to a sleeping lion, poking his fingers in it's eyes, then legging it. :p Brilliant.

You guys have only just been introduced to this muppet we have had to listen to his ramblings for over a year already.

I think a few people on here from both sides would like to see that on DVD.

Bakkies ban stands

Cape Town â€" Springbok lock Bakkies Botha has lost his appeal against a two-week suspension for foul play in the second Test against the British and Irish Lions at Loftus.

SA Rugby confirmed on Thursday that the ban was unaltered, with further details expected later.

Botha was cited and found guilty after a ruck incident in which Adam Jones, the Lions’ tighthead prop, dislocated his shoulder and was ruled out of the remainder of the tour.

The Bok management insisted afterwards that it was not much more than a routine case of “cleaning outâ€, and that the affair might not have gone further had Jones been uninjured in the collision.

Thursday’s decision probably clears the way for the Sharks’ experienced Johann Muller to lock the Bok scrum with Victor Matfield in the dead-rubber third Test at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday.

The Bok team was expected to be announced around Thursday lunchtime.[/b]

What absolute tosh. Terrible call by the citing commisioner.

I don't rate Muller personally.

A bit of consistency is needed here, look at what Rees does right after Bakkies cleans out. Same bloody thing!!!

Yeah. i wonder what affect politics and the Burger-gate aftermath has had on this appeal. Given the light sentence Burger got, they couldnt really let the other guy off no matter how innocuous the incident was.

I didn't actually notice the Botha "incident" and neither Sky nor the local TV (who I presume were producing the coverage) took much notice either. Its really weird that the citing commissioner took such a level of interest in it.

For the record, Commissioner Gordon (seen here on the hotline to New Zealand Coach Graham Henry, circa 2005) was unavailible for comment last night:

You get the feeling that if PdV spouted rubbish like that in Georgia to Georgian fans it would be him making a beeline to buy some tutus ;)
