Can't believe that Sheridan wasn't cited after punching Bekker in the nuts, which is way more vicious and off the ball (no pun intended).

You cant cite a guy for that. It was too funny to be punished.

Thats half your guys one eyed problem he punches Bekker in the nuts and it is funny! If that was a Bok it would be unacceptable. To define it for you it was cheap dirty and dangerous. Same reason why Julian white pumped him.

Maybe if you claimed that the Jones "incident" was funny?

I'm a strong Boks supporter but I must say I am glad about the Burger citing. Where it might hurt us is in the Tri Nations, but it's his own fault and he must be held accountable. I'm looking forward to seeing Brussouw have an extended run again on Saturday.

What Botha did was technically illegal, and it is not allowed precisely because of how dangerous it is for the player over the ball. He is one dirty f***er though, Oh **** we are being destroyed at scrumtime, I know, I'll go and seriously injure their tighthead :toss:

Jones and Jenkins both had surgery last night BTW. Jenkins for a broken Jaw, and Jones obviously for a very badly dislocated shoulder.

Get over it. You think we targeted your players? Jenkins screwed himself up, and Bakkies did sweet bugger all wrong. I'm getting sick and tired of you lot complaining like a bunch of sore losers. We didn't win because of this that and the other. We won because you couldn't beat us, and quite frankly, we are better than you are. We handled the pressure better, and finished better, as well as outscoring you 3 tries to one. Hell, even in the first test we managed to score less tries and still win. What does that tell you? Oh wait... I forgot, it's because of X Y and Z that we lost. Not because the South Africans are better than us.

This was an incredible game, and was definitely one of the best i have ever seen. But everywhere i go, it's just the same stupid excuses:

" Burger should have gone off "
" They went out to hurt us "
" We were the better team "
" Referee bla bla bla "
" O'Gara lost it for us "

Point is, we won fair and square. Why can't anybody just say well done, you deserved the victory, instead of ranting on and on and on.

Burger's suspension reeks of everything that is wrong with those in charge of rugby at the moment. At domestic level, Dylan Hartley get 6 month and 18 weeks bans respectively, for offenses which it could be argued were not as bad or blatant as Burger's. Hartley was reckless and Best was unlucky IMO.

Step up to international level and the IRB, who should be setting the standards for trying to cut gouging out of the game, give a guy only 8 weeks for what you could pretty well describe as clawing. Makes a joke of the whole disciplinary system, Burger should still be kicking his heels at Christmas.

The thing that overwhelms everything else though Jericho is that South Africa won the series and always will have. Complaining isn't going to change anything.

I do also think it should've been more than what he got, but had it been 18 weeks, or 24 even, the people calling for that much would be asking for a 40 week ban or a year. I'm serious, I've heard some here discussing that he should never be back.

Lets just get over it now. All this angers not going to buy a time machine is it?

Jericho, I never said SA targeted players, but I do think Bakkies illegal hit was made with the intention of injuring Jones. He's a dirty c*** player, but a good one. I'd have him in the Lions team.

I was actually shocked when I heard 8 weeks. The absolute minimum should have been 16. You can make a claim that Quinlan (12 weeks, reckless but no intent), Parisse (8 weeks, didn't make contact with the eye) and Best (18 weeks, reckless but no intent, had never been cited before in his career) were all reckless with not a lot of intent, but Burger knew exactly what he was doing.

What kind of a message is this to send? There was talk of the IRB making an example of Burger because of how blatant it was, and that he did it on one of the largest stages possible in Rugby, but they did the exact opposite, 8 weeks won't make anybody think twice about gouging.

We're with you on the Burger thing, he should have been out for longer. I bet PdV will still choose him when the ban is over. #$%$#!

It WAS funny! My comment was tongue in cheek but it was clear he didnt hurt Bekker, and the way he did it was so underhanded it made me laugh out loud.

Okay well look at it this way. Lets say the Lions won the match with a last minute kick from a penalty conceeded by hmmmmmmm Ricky Januarie lets say. This tops off a great come back by the Lions but only after Du Preez, Smit, Botha and Habana had to go off injured after about 50 minutes. At the same time you get to review the other incident and realise that David Wallace who was carded in the first minute should have without doubt been red carded for eye gouging. So the Lions who just scraped through by 3 points in the end should have only played with 14 players for the whole match.

Do you think you would be sitting back content in the knowledge that the Lions were just the better team and other factors didnt influence the game? ****** you would!

These are not stupid excuses, they are major factors that influenced the outcome of the game.

Where in the first test you won it comfortably, this one you won clearly, not fairly (Burger), but you won as a result of factors on the pitch. Uncontested scrums was a big one for you (notice how Spies suddenly became a factor then?), the loss of the Lions centre partnership was another, the fact that you had 15 players on the pitch when you shouldnt have etc. These are all valid points.

Suspension duration is inconsistent as hell, that's what you get for having different unions or whatever dealing with citings.

True. Quinlan got 12 weeks I think for something that didnt look half as nasty as Burgers. That ban is laughable.

8 weeks? Ridiculous. Should be a lot longer. He has always been a **** stirrer i think. Always tackles high as well. Please let him get snapped up by a French team....

I have to also acknowledge Teh Mite who called him a thug before the test and I wasn't sure. I'll still say he's wrong though, because thug isn't a harsh enough word. :p

Mite, I don't think he did, it was fair if not a tiny bit harsh, Neil Best was really shafted though.

This still stinks to high heaven of irb corruption if you ask me, a few Saffa Blazers calling in a few favours so their former golden boy can play 3N.

Would laugh if he appeals, they realise the public feeling on this and then gets an even lengthier one. It won't happen, but damn it'd be funny.
