I'm ****** about this decision, I love the Bulls, I love the way they play rugby but I have lost all respect for them now, I can understand resting a few players or putting a few into the bench but this is a complete joke and is making a mockery out of rugby and their fans.

This was my pick of this season as a must watch game, I even had to change my plans to work around to watch this game, but what is the point now. PDV must be pretty annoyed aswell, as I'm sure he would have loved to see Peter Grant vs Morne Steyn and other contenders.

This stinks of a South African home-semi stich up.

Your thoughts?

All teams rest their top players when they are afforded the chance in a season. The Bulls earned their right to do so by doing well throughout the entire season, doing so well they can going into the last game indifferent of the outcome. The fans, the players and management of the Bulls couldn't give a **** what everybody else thinks, they are here to win trophies. This will no doubt give them edge over their opponents, so why not use it? Anybody else would.

My final thoughts are incidently for you... Get a new hobby since your plans are so messed up now.

This is very strange to me,every one is screaming bloody murder but no one complained when the whinertahs rested most of their players against the lions,no one complained when hennry pulled all his all blacks from the first half of the S14 in 2007 and we as supporters had to pay thousands to watch second string nz sides and not just for one week.did any one even see the Bulls team for saturday, there are thirteen regulars out but this side is still capable of beating any S14 side on any given day!

Oh and verses, stop crying, the whinertahs are going to think you play for them.

I say its their decision, they can do what they want. Its a bit rough on the spectators seeing as these are the two best teams in the comp and i know i for one was looking forward to it but still the bulls can make their own decisions.
I also think this is very different to other situations mentioned in the thread.. the Warratahs rested players in the midpoint of the competition against the team that was coming last. The Bulls are resting the entire team against the other form team in the competition.

Also, i dont think this will give the Bulls an advantage actually.. History shows that resting players in the final round is a death sentance for your team.

* Waratahs

If you're a fan thou wouldn't you like to see your starting lineup? I can totally understand resting players and the positives for South Africa outweight the negatives. If a country could guarantee 2 home semi's I'm sure most would agree that the sensible thing to do is go for it. The revenue from both games would be tremendous considering the teams won't have to fork out anything to fly their players to some other country. What ever happens I think the Bull and Stormers are both awesome teams and deserve to be where they are.

What if the Stormers and Bulls draw, and the Hurricanes beat the Tahs and the Crusaders beat the Brumbs with a bonus point? That'd mean the Crusaders and Hurricanes would move to 2 and 3 (Crusaders would have a better points diff) and get a home semi. What then?
one can dream....

Hahahahahahaha.

I love how so many new zealanders are getting their knickers in a twist over this.

The Bulls would have rested their players against any team with their log position as it is, it just so happens that they're playing the other form team of the competition
in the last round. had it been against the Lions no one would have batted an eyelid.

And PDV would most likely be -happy- the Bulls are doing this Versus, because some springboks are actually being rested for a change, which you know, is kinda what he asked for.

Exactly, but its not.
If it was the Bulls vs the Lions then pfft who cares, but i have been looking forward to the Bulls vs Stormers all year, i personally feel ripped off that the best match of the competition is now a joke.
Also, can you please show me which New Zealanders are getting their "knickers in a twist"? enough to warrant that ridiculous amount of "hahas"

I predict the Bulls will get pumped, lose their momentum and be unable to get it back, losing in the semis.

If the Stormers win this game (which I still think can end up being quite a tough one for them) and win their semi we could end up with a final that everyone wants to see, Stormers vs. Bulls with both fielding top strength teams.

I should have said Australasians waffling about, since it's both really (especially the Waratahs).

Go read Duncan Johnsons's comments on stuff.co.nz, there's your whinging.

I think the Bulls deserve to be able to do what they want. Any other team would love to be in the postion to do the same but they are too useless. Bloody Hurricanes, go the stormers...

The Bulls earned the right to rest whoever they like, look at it this way:
* You rest your 5 most precious players, lose by 10, go into a semi with a loss and most of the regulars played. Metnally not good
* You rest almost all the regulars lose by 20, but the guys who rested still know they can beat these oakes if they meet them in the final, and the Stormers still don't know if they'll be able to beat the A-Team, or worst even a total fluke of a result: Bulls second stringers beat the stormers by 2 and the stormers are BROKEN mentally

That's why you rest 14 and not only 5...

the bulls need to give everybody who went to the game their money back as they didnt get what they paid for

its also not the first time this season that south african teams have given each other gift points, you don't see the brumbies giving up in the last minutes to let the reds score some tries and get some bonus points out of a loss

history in super rugby has shown that fielding a B-team now doesn't pay off as most teams that have done this lost their following game....the stormers are going all the way this season

history has shown that fielding a B team is a bad idea....almost all the teams that have done this in the history of the tournament lost their following game....the tahs are being very hypocritical seeing as they have fielded B teams twice
