Northern Transvaal - Western Province, otherwise known as Blue Bulls vs. Stormers

Can be please stay on the subject of Bulls-Stormers which was played on saturday?

That one step JdV did was awesome, Jacque Fourie was almost through once too. It's only a matter of time before that backline starts clicking again and then...

Habana ruined at least three opportunities to get tries, he needs to be benched!

Yes we have been getting more line breaks but there isn't enough support and players running off of the guys getting the breaks.

Completely agree on Habana needing time on the bench. No, not even the bench, the Vodacom cup. He was horrible on Saturday and made something like 8/9 errors. Yeah, he scored a try but also cost us one (although he did do well to get into position in the first place). A very expensive and high-profile somewhat-failure and WP and Allister Coetzee need to make the difficult decision. Call it player rotation or rest if necessary LOL. Just get Engelbrecht in or do a PDivvy and move JdV to the wing. If it weren't impossible I would have loved getting Joe pietersen back from Bayonne at 15 and puting Aplon on the wing. Tim Whitehead is also a decent option. Anyone would be less of a liability ATM!!

15 - getting better and better as the weeks goes by , fearless under the high ball but due to his size he will always be a target. On Attack he is probably SA best at the moment and don’t shy from the physical stuff , A must for SA WC squad should he remain fit !!

14 - Poolman , I still dont see the fuss , I would rather play Juan De Joghn of JJ Englelbreght on the wing.

13 - Fourie - Huge huge game form the world’s self proclaimed best 13 !! My MOTM actually

12 - Much quieter but steady and played well in a tight game.

11 - Habs Habs Habs, so frustrating just watching him , his try as good as it was does not make up for school biy errors , he is trying too hard but I would play him again simply due to the lack of decent replacements

10 - Grant , limited as he is he is most likely SA second best flyhalf behind Lambie at the moment and showed that he learned a trick and or two while in Japan with some nice kicking variety to his attacking play.Grant is teh type of player you can take to war with , steady and reliable !!

9 - Duwenhage - Thought he was going to be replaced after Bakkies unsuccessfully tried to dislodge his head from his body. Played well , much much better than Januarie

8 - Still absent for me , some lauded his performance but I must have missed it , think Kid Koster is a much better bet

7 - F Louw - Finally showing some form , maybe go from strength to strength

6 - Though Pieter Louw was much quieter in this game , he tries hard though.

5 - Bekker - Matfield once said that the Lock he hates the most to play against in Bekker and we could see why , Bekker was all over Matfield and co , awesome game

4 - Rynhardt Elstadt - Just who is this Kid ? Virtually unheard off before this years S15 but now after 5 weeks he is most likely one of the top locks in the comp , I said from day 1 that I rate him and he continues to impress , still young and green and I don’t think he is ready for bok rugby but he won’t look out of place in a green jersey in the future , maybe 2012 he will be more ready.

3 - The return off Brock , disappointing last week but much better this week , he gave away a penalty once in a scrum and you could see him apologising to his cappie and team mates ! He is maturing wonderful and I hope he stays injury free

2 - Fourie - Great in the tight and loose , nice to see his getting game time but he needs to work on his lineout throwing !! Inexcusable in this day and age not to practice lineout throwing !!

1 - Blaauw - my favorite player !! have a soft spot for the props lol !! I said last year I don’t see the fuss about CJ and this is why , Blaauw totally killed the Bulls Werner Kruger !!

Actually the Stormers front row killed the Bulls with the rest of the Stormers pack not far behind ! The Bulls simply played crap rugby and was way too predictable , the return game is gonna be brutal and we will see if the Bulls continue with their predictable game.

I think Bakkies , Chillieboy , Olivier and Kirchner were all lucky not to be carded for foul play and also Stegman for professional fouls.

Stormers still way off their game but at least they seem to be progressing in the right direction.

Congratulations to the stormers for beating the Bulls at Loftus. We did not play good at all in the last couple of weeks of super rugby, probably should have been lower on the log. But I am not worried about the Bulls team because I know they are a quality outfit that can bounce back anytime in the competition. I am also not worried about the fact that many say our game is outdated, we know that they can play a running brand of rugby. Hopefully they hit their straps and don’t leave it for too late like in 2008.

the best part of that game (apart from being in the stands and seeing that quite literally half of Loftus was filled with WP supporters) was when Duvenhage sold the mother of all dummies to none other than Fourie du Preez, I absolutely love Du preez and still think he's the best Scrummie in the world, but it's obvious to me that Duvenhage should become the Springbok understudy to Fourie, had such a monster game.

Duvenhage has been a very promising scrumhalf for years but had Januarie being in his path to the Bok squad. Now there is a chance he can be the 3rd of maybe even 2nd choice scrumhalf.

Du Preez is the 1st pick, no doubt, but for second choice (with the World Cup in mind) I would pick Ruan Pienaar, also because of his diversity in the backline. Duvenhage or McLeod will be the 3rd choice for the World Cup in my opinion

I think you meant should be. PdV has a track record of only promoting players in dud games or if the incumbent (Januarie) is injured. Don't think the fact that Coetzee prefers Duvenhage over Januarie in Super rugby will factor in PdV's decision making.
