Ruiz is a fat Chisora who unlike Chisora hasn't been up against the great heavyweights of his generation. If Parker fought either Wilder or AJ he would be battered. Pulev, Povetkin and Hughie Fury would beat him.

My God you weren't kidding when you said Ruiz was fat. This guy has one flabby belly.

The fact that more than 12 of the professional boxers I train with said that Ruiz was leading on their cards makes me question this result.

One judge scored it a draw; the other two scored it 115-113 in Parker's favour. Considering it was fought in Auckland that is not surprising.

Parker to fight Hughie Fury. Don't see it to be honest. Parker wouldn't fight in the UK and Fury doesn't want to fight period

Parker definitely won this fight, there were 3-4 swing rounds in the fight that could have been scored either way. IMO you would have to give all of those to Ruiz for it to have been a Draw.

Parker started slow and Ruiz won 3 of the first 4 rounds, not in a dominant way, he was just more active during the feel-out process. Parker basically won the rest of the fight apart from the last round which was close.

Ruiz was advancing the entire fight and that makes it look like he was winning, that may sway the judges when rounds have been close otherwise but its not an indication of who is winning.
Parker landed by far the most significant punches and combinations. During the middle rounds Parker managed to land ~5 significant full power at good range head shots on Ruiz (His chin is insane, and it did get tested). Ruiz didn't really manage to land a single shot like that the entire fight, the ones he did land were either at the extent of his range with no power or they were partially blocked by Parkers shoulders and it showed, at the end of the fight Ruiz was marked and puffy around both eyes - Parker was basically unmarked.

Close decision, but not the wrong decision. I would actually question the judge who gave it a Draw.

This is what one of my friends who is a 40 pro fight veteran said

"Ruiz won easy, 8 rounds to 4, Pretty hard to lose a 12 round fight when you win the first 5 rounds convincingly. Ruiz landed more shots on the inside. People who think Parker won look at the power shots that Ruiz walked through."

cant agree at all. first 5 rounds "convincingly" ? while that was the best part of the fight for Ruiz there were still a couple of genuine swing rounds in there.

Sounds like someone putting a lot of weight on the fact Ruiz was moving forward most of the fight. I think smart judges will see the shorter guy with less range having to move forward against a taller fighter, and a taller fighter having to move back to keep the fight at his range.

statistically Parker threw more punches (560-416) and landed more (119-107) and landed far more cleaner shots as well. Evidence being all over Ruiz's face at the end of the fight while Parker was unmarked. To suggest that Ruiz won convincingly or even just won is a bit silly quite frankly. Ruiz ate some massive shots from Parker and kept coming, his chin was phenomenal. I think if Ruiz had landed similar shots on Parker he would have finished him or at least scored some knock downs. But the fact is Ruiz simply didn't land any shots of that quality on Parker, not a single one.

I think Parker is going to run into trouble when he fights someone like Anthony Joshua. At this point there is no one in Australia at Parkers level. Closest I can see right now is a guy who fights out of my gym whose 6'8'' and is fighting for the Aus Heavyweight ***le next year. But Parker is going to have to either move to the US to get some big fight experience (A risk for him because if moment he starts losing interest will wan) or he's going to have to draw someone like Joshua (won't happen in NZ) or even Lucas "Big drug cheat" Browne. But after Browne where can he go? Get demolished like Leapai against Klitschko? He is still young so he has time on his side. However he can't get taller only wider, like Tua. He got bigger but struggled against real international names.

Australia right now is dead in the heavyweight division. We've got Jeff Horn at welterweight and that's it.

AJ ordered to fight King kong if he gets pass Vlad. Two very tough fights for him but its good to see him testing his potential.

Parker won the fight but it should never have been that close, Ruiz is a lardy toad, whats going to be happen if Ruiz gets fit?
Parker will be found out sooner or later.

Well chinny Price lived up to his nickname last night getting knocked out in the 7th. Blokes too fat and too slow to be a top level fighter.

Also Parker to fight Hughie Fury probably again in New Zealand. Interesting fight just wish it was in the states or the UK so it could attract a better pay day for both fighters.

Anyone watching tonight?

I'm hoping that the lad from Creed wins, just because he's from Creed.

Yep

Looks like Haye's nicked his belt logo from Mass Effect.

I'm loving it,
Usually really bored with boxing but enjoying this so far,
Classic power shots vs speed/agility atm, Haye throwing wingers and Bellew countering

Edit: after the first round I put a fiver on it going the distance, wish I'd gone for Bellew now, he's ruining Haye

Double edit: they should throw in the towel, Haye is holding the ropes with one hand and just kind of waving his other arm out, he can barely stand. Fair play his chin is holding up but you've gotta think how much damage his brain is taking here
How the hell did he make it out of that round?! Bellew in serious danger of gassing, and then what? 5 rounds of them throwing no shots and breathing heavily on the ropes?

Lotta balls on show from Haye.

Don't know what's happened to his leg, but it's ****ed.

Surprised they didn't show a replay of his knockdown to find what happened to it!?

Listerning to it on the radio and it seems all Bellew with Haye showing an ankle injury
