Australia vs England - 3 Tests - June 2016

It's not the merits of the changes but the fact it was introduced into the SH in January and is now being introduced for NH sides from 1st June, just before their summer tours. How can that be fair?

January was slap bang in the middle of the NH season, that's far worse on the players than being a few months behind the south IMO.

Where cna a find a rundown of the new laws?

There's a whole load of changes all being introduced on 1st July when neither hemisphere is playing rugby. Except for the maul change which has been introduced on 1st June just before the NH sides tour to the SH who have had this change since last January.

World Rugby could have picked a more equitable date to introduce ALL changes at the same time, in both hemispheres, IMO.

I would like to know why the timing on the maul law is so different.

Ah I see, sorry.

That does sound a bit dodge then.

Because the SH saw the driving Maul coming from Sydney and decided not to risk be turned over by NH powerhouse forwards.

Thoughts on the aussie team? Thinking:
1. Slipper
2.Moore
3.Sio
4.Mumm
5.Skelton
6.Mcmahon
7.Hooper
8.Pocock
9.Phipps
10.Foley
11.Tomane
12.Toomua
13. Kuridrani (Though I'd say Karevi if fit)
14. Horne
15. Folau

16. Roach
17. Daley
18. Holmes
19. Dennis
20. Fardy
21. Sterzaker
22.lileafano
23.

Toomua, Roach, Daley, Dennis, Sterzaker and Tomane aren't in the squad. Plus, Sio's a loosehad, what about Kepu? I'm expecting:

1. Sio
2. Moore
3. Kepu
4. Skelton
5. Mumm
6. Fardy
7. Hooper
8. Pocock
9. Phipps
10. Foley
11. Haylett-Petty
12. Kuridrani
13. Kerevi
14. Horne
15. Folau

16. The curly-haired one who's name I'm not going to butcher
17. Slipper
18. Holmes
19. Horwill
20. McMahon
21. Frisby
22. Lealiifano
23. Naiyaravoro

Skelton wouldn't start for me, and Lealiifano is touch and go ATM with this birth isn't he.

I would go with
1) Sio
2) Moore
3) Kepu
4) Simmons
5) Horwill
6) Fardy
7) Hooper
8) Pocock
9) Phipps
10) Foley
11) Horne
12) Lealiifano
13) Kuridrani
14) Morahan
15) Folau

16) TPN
17) Kepu
18) Holmes
19) Skelton
20) McMahon
21) Frisby
22) Hunt/Kerevi
23) Haylett-Petty

You've put Kepu in twice (3 & 17) but otherwise a pretty solid team. I have my doubts about Horwill though and I really think Kerevi needs to start. It's not easy as a 13/wing to do well in a poor team but he's been a shining light in the darkness that is the Reds. Whether it's 11,12,13 or 14, IMO he needs to start somewhere.

I reckon Cheika will go with
1) Sio

2) Moore

21) Palu
22) Frisby
23) Hodge

Aus can't afford to use Skelton and the pooper. You'll get ripped apart in the lineout with just two jumpers.

Do you think Cheika would consider Fardy as a lock with Pocock, Hooper and McMahon in the back row?

I think doing so would absolutely ruin Australia's set piece. Only two lineout jumpers and a substantially lighter scrum. I'd be very surprised if he did so.

....and quite aside from the fact that Skelton is a walking penalty generator. He's worth 3 to 6 points for the opposition.

If England's tacticians have any sense at all they will get their players to ****le him until he reacts, and react he will.

So who are people thinking will win? I reckon it's gonna be a 2-1 series, which way it will go I have no clue.

I'll be pretty surprised if its not Australia. They're at home and they've got more World Class players. That's usually a win.

They are in somewhat of a rebuilding stage though. Genia, Giteau, Mitchell, AAC, Toomua, Cooper, Tomane, Speight and a few others all lost from their back line. As far as I'm aware they don't even have a specialist 12 in their squad. I think Oz have every chance of winning, but so do England.
