Injuries were always the risk and All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has several worries after watching his squad beat Canterbury and then Wellington in a training match in the Hutt Valley tonight.Wing Julian Savea, midfielder Francis Saili and blindside Steve Luatua all limped off at various stages of the second half against Wellington in front of 6000 fans.
The national squad beat the Cantabrians 19-0 then Wellington 12-7 and scored five tries in the process on a night when their provincial opponents gave them a satisfactory test ahead of the Rugby Championship.
The match also provided a possible glimpse of Hansen's likely starting side for the opening Bledisloe Cup test in Sydney.
There was plenty of chopping and changing but the team that began looked close to full strength.
Only Ma'a Nonu (ankle) and Liam Messam, who was among the rested Chiefs contingent, were missing from the likely first choice fifteen.
Their places were taken by Saili and Luatua, the former having an eventful night in which he created as many tries as he blew.
Dane Coles had the hooking duties between props Tony Woodcock and Owen Franks with Sam Whitelock and Luke Romano in the second row.
The match also provided a glimpse of the new crouch, bind, engage scrum calls that will be used in the upcoming tests with as many resets as ever.
The All Blacks tries went to Savea, Dan Carter and Ben Smith against the Cantabrians, and to Aaron Smith and Charles Piutau against Wellington.
Wellington halfback Frae Wilson scored the only try for the provinces.
Playing in a light blue training strip the All Blacks' first 40 minutes against the Cantabrians could only be described as rusty.
The national side bombed more tries than they scored and were lucky not to concede at least two as their provincial rivals conjured two clean line breaks courtesy of missed tackles by Whitelock and Carter.
But it will be of little consequence to Hansen who got exactly what he was looking for as his side tried out a variety of attacking ploys and opted for as many scrums as possible.
Captain Richie McCaw was full of running before taking a seat after the opening 40 minutes while, Saili created plenty of chances in the midfield.
Savea also got plenty of touches and Israel Dagg was into everything including knocking out Canterbury No 8 Luke Whitelock.
Whitelock was in some discomfort after his attempted tackle in the 21st minute and didn't return to the field.
The Chiefs players took no part other than Aaron Cruden running the kicking tee, while Nonu, who hurt his ankle in a club match two weeks ago, was rested as a precaution.
Savea got the firs try of the night after nine minutes when Saili's well timed long pass found Dagg who quickly flicked the ball on to his wing for an easy run in after nine minutes.
But it took the All Blacks until the 33rd minute to score their second try as numerous passes went astray.
A Saili break up the middle from his own half and some slick handling involving Savea and Coles saw Carter receive the final pass for a 12-0 lead.
Ben Smith capped the half when he jogged over unopposed in the corner in the final play, Carter's sideline conversion making it 19-0.
Wellington were next up and provided a more physical opponent as they shot out to a 7-0 lead with a well constructed converted try to Wilson.
Hansen rung the changes with hookers Keven Mealamu and Andrew Hore sharing the openside role in McCaw's absence as the whole squad got plenty of game time.
The re-jigged All Blacks responded on 20 minutes when the Wellington scrum capitulated near their line and Aaron Smith dived on the loose ball to close to 7-5.
And a Saili grubber saw Charles Piutau beat Lima Sopoaga to the ball on 28 minutes, Beauden Barrett's conversion ensuring there was no chance of a provincial upset.

Sounds like Saili had a good game. Hopefully none of the injuries are that bad.

Any player with serious injury? or just minor injuries?
