Side note, I see that "M JD Hancock" has now locked his friends list!

Anyone know anything about the Electoral Commission's remit? It strikes me that these various deliberate attempts to fraudulently influence the result of election should be investigated as a criminal offence.

I think I posted it earlier that when Conservatives changed their twitter account to fact check and set up a fake labour manifesto site, the Electoral Commission came out and said that its remit is only really financial and whilst it encourages all parties to play fair, it has no power to intervene.

Quick question mods should be not be following Ofcom rules re discussion on political issues during polling station opening times ?

Yup it doesn't actually suspend campaigning either, if you live in a marginal you probably got leaflets today and if you've been canvassed and they have your information they might ring you or knock on your door.

But aye OFCOM rules only apply to traditional 'forms' of broadcast communication.

Personally I like no politics days and people just encouraging people to vote. Then JJ Abrams opened his gob....

In all honesty I just can't be asked to watch this Star Wars at the cinema.

All he wants to do is reskin the original trilogy pretty.

Look I'm not a fan of JJ at all and I think the problem he stated 'no one like it when you tell them things don't matter' was more to do with him not caring what the solution in the first place than what Rian Johnson deciding his solution was he didn't care for mysteries in which the solution wasn't inbuilt (see Knives Out for solution that exist within the actual film).

But ultimately I'm just sick of two years of the ******* Star Wars culture war. I want to go and enjoy the films about space wizards intended for children and not care about any political subtext positive or negative....are the films 'fun and engaging'

So cast my vote today at 7.10am. Surprised so many peeps were there so early. Voted Lib Dem for first time in a general election. Gonna make sod all difference as my constituency is a hard core Tory area where last time the MP got 61% of the vote, plus it voted leave in the referendum.

Looking forward to 10pm and first exit poll.

I'm not but then I'm expecting a result that most people in this 'echo chamber' won't be happy with.

Can't decide if news of high turnout is good or badm last time it was high we got Brexit.

Of course if my social media was anything to go by the Tories would get wiped out.

Well been and voted. Will wake up tomorrow with either a rabid tory government or a militant Labour one. Reminds me of the 80s, feels like we have been going backwards for some time now.
I think the Labour one will be curtailed as I very much doubt they'll get an outright majority in any circumstance. Still despise the extreme's we are now at, not healthy in a lot of ways.

Well it would have resulted in a large UKIP contingent a couple of times....
That assumes a great many things vioting intention would like radically change if we moved away from FPTP. Honestly I think it would be a better even if there was straight PR in the past. UKIP were originally not a cult of personality and full of BNP rejects. If we had a proper anti-EU voice in parliment rather than two large parties essentially shutting down that voice we possibly wouldn't be at the extremes we are now.

Well we got to treat it for what it is today. Nothing more, nothing less. Brexit is gonna take a generation to sort out and really understand what and how our relationship with Europe will be.

today's result will just be a small incremental step in the process. The exit poll the clearest indication of what it will be. I have not looked at any polls/watched any debates this election before I voted.

The higher the turn out the better. Usually it's around 60% IIRC but hopefully closer to 70% this time, despite the **** weather.

I've now done the voting thing weird ward boundary means my polling station is 3.5 miles away...so have to make an effort.

Need to sort out a postal ballot.

What happens if BoJo loses his constituency but the Tories win?
Presumably the PM has to be an MP - so new PM?
