NZ is waiting for you, more rugby than you can shake a stick at, and not so freezing in the winter, or humid in the summer, as DC.

Surely we're headed for impeachement now...
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/10/us/politics/donald-trump-jr-russia-email-candidacy.html
WASHINGTON — Before arranging a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer he believed would offer him compromising information about Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Jr. was informed in an email that the material was part of a Russian government effort to aid his father's candidacy, according to three people with knowledge of the email.

The email to the younger Mr. Trump was sent by Rob Goldstone, a publicist and former British tabloid reporter who helped broker the June 2016 meeting. In a statement on Sunday, Mr. Trump acknowledged that he was interested in receiving damaging information about Mrs. Clinton, but gave no indication that he thought the lawyer might have been a Kremlin proxy.

...

Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump's son-in-law, and Paul J. Manafort, the campaign chairman at the time, also attended the June 2016 meeting in New York. Representatives for Mr. Kushner referred requests for comments back to an earlier statement, which said he had voluntarily disclosed the meeting to the federal government. He has deferred questions on the content of the meeting to Donald Trump Jr.

A spokesman for Mr. Manafort declined to comment.

But at the White House, the deputy press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, was adamant from the briefing room lectern that "the president's campaign did not collude in any way. Don Jr. did not collude with anybody to influence the election. No one within the Trump campaign colluded in order to influence the election."

...

Oh, and by way of denial, we have this, from Don Jr

Which.... as far as I can tell, confirms the NYT article, and the worst of the speculation...

So will this start to actually reach Don Sr? or does he still have plausible deniability if his son, son-in-law, and best friend are willing to throw themselves under the bus for him?

For that matter - is this the opening round of a "immunity for dirt" deal from Jr?

dude, nothing is going to get sr... republicans own the house so there is no chance they would bring impeachment charges against him

he'll see out this term

Mid term elections next year?

it would take a lot... because democrats are focused on metropolitan areas it is almost impossible for them to gain a majority in the house

at best, democrats can tie in senate and that definitely won't happen

Ah well we can hope. I read all 435 seats are up for reelection in the HoR and 33/34 of the 100 Senators. After what's happened in the last two years, never say never.

Yep... I do have hope that some of the poorer areas that have realised having national healthcare is awesome will vote out their republican congressmen. The new healthcare law is very unpopular in the public.

Going into the election dems have 23 seats while republicans have 43. 25 left leaning seats (green + dems) are up for grabs while only 9 republican ones are.

The states that Clinton ****** up on (West Virginia, Florida, Ohio, and wisconsin) are up in the air right now. Dems would need to win them plus some others to even tie. They would need some huge upsets to get a majority. If the states that were up for reelection were different the dems might roll but it's not looking good.

This is a good interactive map.

Thanks Mole - I hadn't realised that it was only 1/3 of the senate that was up for grabs - I'd kinda assumed it was the lot.

I am writing a project for school and would apreciate some help from y'all... Can war crimes be justified? any ideas?

Of course - by winning and getting the write the history books, whilst sitting in judgement over the losers and not yourself.

At risk of Godwinism, but it's an easy and obvious example; lets look at WWII - had Germany won, then gas chambers would have been justifiable and right; had Japan won, then germ warfare would have been justifiable and right; as it was, USA won, so nuclear holocaust was justifiable and right.

More recently, you could look at the second war in Iraq - generally considered an illegal war, and thus a war crime by definition; however, who's going to arrest and try Bush and/or Blair? Saddam on the other hand was dealt with by a few feet of hemp.
Might is Right I'm afraid, and morality be damned - the winner is untouchable, and the loser is screwed anyway.

Morally speaking - absolutely not.
