The thing is, I don't think Trump was particularly clever in his attacks on Biden. He was crude and hypocritical. It only appears clever because, for reasons I still can't comprehend, many seem to hold him to a wholly different standard to how they hold others. We often hear about Trump supposedly playing 4D chess but it has the same energy as religious people who explain away disasters or contradictions as "god works in mysterious ways", ie I'm not going to attempt to justify this because I can't, so I'll just assert there is some higher thinking neither of us can comprehend and leave it at that. Trump has never shown at any stage that he is actually intelligent at all. Everyone who has worked with him who speaks freely talks about how he cannot grasp basic concepts, has the attention span of a child and is incapable of following a train of thought to it's conclusion. Trump acts on impulse and leaves it for others to try to find a way to portray it as genius later. Just look at the trade wars, Republicans are trying to claim his flip flopping nearly daily on tariffs is some genius negotiating tactic when it's clear there is no tactic, he just blurts out whatever pops into his head at any moment in time. The emperor has no clothes but nobody on the Republican side has the spine to say it yet.
Trump is just the figurehead of a deeper problem. There is a concerted attempt to establish an autocracy in the USA and the worst part it's in broad daylight, there's nothing subtle about it. Project 2025 is real, it's a published document and it is being enacted right now, even as Republicans dismissed it as fearmongering. It's actually happening and far faster than even those warning about it expected.
All levels of government are being filled with loyalists to Trump, positions that both Republicans and Democrats for a long time respected as being non-partisan and separate to political squabbling. These people are not being installed to do any job except prevent the government from holding Trump to account as he rams through the Project 2025 agenda. They went about earmarking thousands of people who were Trump loyalists to install from day 1 into these positions. The plan was in place to gut these organisations and fill them with loyalists before the election. I don't for one moment think Trump is the mastermind of what's happening. The day to day flip flopping is him but the broader strategic thinking isn't.
At the supreme court, Alito and Thomas have both been very openly caught in corruption scandals that would see judges at any other level of government impeached and disbarred. There is no such mechanism beyond impeachment in the house for the supreme court, and Republicans are flat out refusing to hold them to account. The justices Trump placed there are all extremely young and inexperienced, poor choices as actual top level judges but great choices to ensure Republican control of the supreme court for decades with people who owe everything to Trump.
The House and Senate have forfeit all their oversight powers for the president and supreme court, enabling corruption in both the executive and the presidency. Whilst Democrats can get control of both of these, they won't ever have the numbers to impeach and convict.
The FBI is headed up by a loyalist with a public hit list, the DoJ has a head who says their primary mission is to pursue Trump's agenda, not enforce the law. All independent government watchdogs have been removed from position. The government ethics advisors have been shut down. The government employees in charge of pursuing fraud have been gutted, people involved in investigating Trump's crimes are now being harassed and investigated with no evidence or charges or even suggestions of what crimes they are supposed to have committed. Political loyalist criminals are being pardoned en masse, top military men are being pushed out of position and replaced with people whose first priority is loyalty to Trump.
None of that is hyperbole, all the above has happened. That is not normal and has all the hallmarks of an authoritarian regime being put in place. This is not TDS, this is real and is happening right now.
Look, let's be real, when you start a conversation about a billionaire entrepreneur, tv personality and 2nd time US president and leader of the free world as 'not very smart' it's hard to take the rest seriously.
His first campaign was a stroke of genius, how much he had to do with it I'm unsure, but the utilisation of social media, the black out of Clinton in the mainstream, and the culture game was incredible. He was literally ridiculed by everyone for running, he was mocked during the primaries, and he was given no chance on election day. It was a massive underdog victory that sound ridiculous now.
Trump said 3 things a week that would've sunk anyone else's campaign, people forgot Hillary was running, she was referenced so little in the media. The social media campaign was aggressive and strategically perfect.
I can't give him as much credit 2nd time around, because Biden hiding in a basement was a superb strategy, and they let Trump hang himself with his own rope.
3rd attempt Harris pulled a Clinton, as soon as she was installed she was struggling, then she went high profile and I think the Rogan thing put it over the edge. Trump went sage, it's simple, is your life better under Biden than it was under me. It's a totally unfair comparison, but it worked.
Trump has run multiple companies, the most powerful country in the world, it's just categorically untrue to say he's not smart. He acts the characature, the same way Biden leaned into harmless grandpa, Obama the gentle statesman, Bush the moron and Clinton the young suave new politician.
I won't get into how one sided the rest of it is, it's tiresome when someone fights for their teams lives consistently, and won't acknowledge basic facts like stupid people don't become president of the USA, or billionaire businessmen.
I had an argument the other day with someone claiming Elon Musk was a moron who stumbled into his billions lol, that's a ridiculous statement.
