We're taking measures to move our holiday into next year. Genuine issues coming from the finance wonks.

As noted we're not really controlled by Tories but Democrats and Republicans and they almost didn't let us have the jubilee off. I think if you work for actual UK owned company where its being run by a British guy your good. But that's not how many companies are run.

It was both those bodies who decided it the royal declaration of morning specifically said event should go ahead if they wanted it. Last Night of the Proms was a really mad one could easially of been redone.

Izyum abandoned before Ukraine could close the net. Disappointing but can't be greedy. The suggestion is this removal of pressure from the north should help Ukraine hold the remainder of Donetsk so the chances of Russia reaching full occupation of Donbass this year has taken a real hit and with it the ability of Putint to try and claim 'mission accomplished' and save face while abandoning wider objectives.

This footage pretty much sums up the last few days for Russia.

Reports Ukraine is pushing on at a crazy speed in the northeast and have reached Sieverodontesk. So pushing in to Luhansk region and potentially coming round the back of the Russian front in Donbass. I apologise if I'm being hoodwinked and this is misinformation. This would be even more nuts than what's just happened.

Reuters reporting multiple Ukrainian officials making it clear Ukraine is miles behind what was Russian frontlines in Luhansk region yesterday and have at a minimum, reached Lysychansk. So this seems verifiable.

The swift fall of Izium in Kharkiv province was Moscow's worst defeat since its troops were forced back from Kyiv in March, and could prove a turning point in the war, with thousands of Russian soldiers abandoning ammunition stockpiles and equipment as they fled.

If anyone finds a news outlet accessible online that is actually reporting on this please let me know. The security of an entire continent for a generation may be being secured and I'm having to scrabble about randomly on the internet to find out what might be happening. I bet they wouldn't even cover it if Putin tossed in a nuke. Shocking!

The difference between that video and Zelensky's 'we are here' speech at the start of the war is rather stark.

Incidentally, the above map for "today" was before today's offensive (and a reasonably conservative map maker).
I actually like his maps better than the previous one I put up, they're here if you're interested - I like maps (just in case you couldn't tell from my postings), because they're something I understand, I can read the terrain, and major and minor roads, railways etc etc.
I dno't know war, and only a rudimentary understanding of tactics (most of that based on medieval and earlier); but maps, I get.
