A Political Thread pt. 2

The left has always, especially in this country, had a massive anti semitism problem and there's certainly a lot of "I'm not anti semitic I'm anti Zionist" comments I see coming from anti semitic people. Not on here, obviously. I genuinely think, like Hamas and their extreme views or hardline Israelis, there's a sizeable (if I had to guess around 10%) amount of left wing people that would probably accept the Jews being genocided as a outcome in all this. I would go even further and say there's probably about 25%-40% of people on the left that think Israel has no right to exist as a country.

More u turns
I think Starmer could pretty much U turn on most things. It'll have little impact. Just this week he's upset a mosque in Wales and most of the left / momentum / novara media commentators with comments ref Israel / Palestine.

At this point in time people will probably vote for a chicken with a red rosette rather than the Conservatives

I can't help but feel his comments were taken broadly out of context. He just gave a politicians answer.

If you listen to the clip he basically says Israel were wrong without actually saying it. He says Israel has a right to defend itself and then proceeds to say when pressed they have to act within international law.

Like I'd prefer it, if he just said Israel has the right to defend itself but clearly these actions aren't within international law. We support them entirely as long as they work within that framework. But pro-palestine groups (and momentum types who will jump on Starmer even if he promised to implement communist manifesto) have latched onto it way too much.

novara media commentators
Tbh half of that lot are nutcases anyway. One of them seemed to straight up celebrate the initial slaughter and is still in a job as far as I can tell.

I can't imagine outside of Corbyn's office and his chums that anyone else gives a huge amount of thought to them

Does Israel accept Palestine as a independent state?
Considering Israel has pretty much abandoned all attempts to support the Palestinian government and instead illegally occupy and cause shockingly bad treatment to the Palestinian people I would say i'm pretty much anti Zionist just like i am anti most things nationalism.

And it's perfectly possible to be anti Zionist and not be a Cnut but when you hear people say things like "dirty Zionist's" and "death to Zionism" we know what they really mean and it's probably pretty in line with what Hamas want.

Both sides have extremists that want to see the complete destruction of the other. The difference is Israel has the capability to make this a reality, Hamas don't. Israel have the capacity to besiege the entire country and indiscriminately starve millions of food, water and medicine, Hamas don't. Israel have the capacity to strike wherever and whenever they want, Hamas don't.

Hamas are evil and terrorists but Israel hold all the cards and have all the power, how they are choosing to use their massive advantage says many things, none of them are that they want a 2 state solution. Unfortunately this ends only 1 way, the destruction of Gaza and the west bank, combined with a likely forced exodus of the arab population from these areas.

Change well overdue. We'll have to see how the investigation progresses, but from a political perspective he was due to stand down at the next election anyhow.

Formerly my MP. Keir Starmer also went to school in his constituency, but if it ever goes red the world really will have fallen off its axis.

Requires less of a swing than Mid Befordshire.

Boris: Wel, Wel, come, to m, m, m, my show *music plays*
Narrator: Tune in next week where I hope we get more then a sentence.

At least 16 dead and dozens injured in a mass shooting in Maine. Just so sad and unnecessary.
Yes, it's very sad and unnecessary. The Republicans are in bed with the NRA. And as long as that's going on I doubt much will change. It's all about $$.
