A Political Thread pt. 2

Why is he doing all this? Is he trying to emulate Boris' career and get the popularity to get back into politics or something?

It's a public inquiry. Cummings was called to attend given his position during the crisis. Pretty sure he'd rather not be there. Some interesting headlines so far:

Boris "didn't like attending COBRA meetings"
Boris "put the wrong people in the wrong jobs"
"Govt had no plan to help vulnerable people during lockdown"
etc.

Sounds like a total shitshow.

The right move but enforcement will be a nightmare/realistically won't be upheld so this likely won't make much difference,
"It's not an XL bully, it's a generic staffie/mastiff cross"

IDF confirmed airstrike on Jabalia refugee camp.

They claim they killed the commander of Hamas's central Jabalia battalion, Ibrahim Biari, in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip earlier on Tuesday.

The military said the strike killed Biari and several other Hamas militants, and caused underground terror tunnels to collapse, bringing down several nearby buildings.

Reports differ but at least 100 people killed in the refugee camp.

I mean this seems mental. Targeting a refugee camp, even with potential leaders there.

I feel some of the West's leaders need to tell Israel to stop or could seriously escalate to full Middle East conflict

All the IDF have to do is say they were targeting Hamas as they massacre civilians and everything is ok...

Its great the COVID inquiry is just confirming what we all knew Johnson was complete ill suited for the role of Prime Minister and voting in a guy because he seams a bit fun is probably a stupid way to vote.
I was trying to think of what would be a good crisis for BJ's skill set - but actually, he got that too - PR and charisma were required for the Ukraine crisis (and an absolute necessity of distracting the UK populace)
Listening to the Newsagents podcast the other day and a tory insider essentially said before Putin invaded they were almost on threshold to boot him out in letters to Brady but because of war on mainland Europe they mostly withdrew them because they didn't think they could change PM. Probably saved his neck for 4 months.

Newsagents podcast is a hidden gem. It's excellent, really great explanation of current events

Its pretty much how I'm keeping up to date on UK news in Canada other than the BBC.

In a lot of way being Sopel, Maitlis and Goodall it feels like how the BBC should act or use to. Pretty unbiased and making sure correct people are informing and being questioned on current events.

TBF a lot of Global's output is pretty good sure there was a time they Farage and Hopkins but they booted them both for crossing the line but have kept Ferrari and O'Brien back to back so whilst very opinionated to one skew or another their output is giving a range of opinions rather than just one particular slant.

The completely one sided case of left wing vs right wing antisemitism being displayed in the media is something that gets overlooked way too much. There are few better cases of media bias. The far right pretending the antisemites are all left wing when antisemitism has been a cornerstone of far right ideology for centuries is laughable. This isn't to say it doesn't exist on the left, it clearly does, but the complete refusal to ever look at it on the right is ridiculous.

Funny a caller into LBC today, probably during James O'Brien's show, said she thought the whole focus by what might be considered 'The Right' on 'The Left' being Pro-Palestine / ceasefire, is an attempt to enflame the anti-Semitism Labour Left Wing rhetoric of the Corbyn-era

Yeah it's more one of those antisemitism sticks out like a sore thumb on the left but on the right trying to find it through the swathes of other 'isms. Is a lot harder.

Starmer suspending Andy Mcdonald and the lefts current pursuit of Starmer for endorsing' war crimes' adds fuel to the fire.

Well as the guy in the video says. Johnson has literally written a book which talks about bankers, mainly Jewish ones manipulating things to suit them.

Yep, Israel trying very hard to only attack 'military' targets.
Did anyone ever expect otherwise?
Israel always retaliate, looking for 20 dead Palestinians per dead Israeli - if the Palestinians are actually particularly guilty, then it's just a happy bonus (and yes, I believe that they'll target Hamas, they just like the collateral, rather than making any attempt to minimise).

With 1,400-odd Israeli's dead in the Hamas assault, Israel will be looking for 28,000 dead in Gaza

So Israel tell civilians to evacuate an area, only to then attack the area they told them to evacuate to... They have also repeatedly hit refugee camps. Once or twice may be an unfortunate accident but this is repeated on top of starving the entire country of food, water, medicine and fuel. Let's call this what it is, this is terrorism.
