In garrison towns. So to help civilian police with the military people in the town.
Why do you doubt that?"Service police are not constables under UK law and do not have any constabulary powers over the general public, however they have the full range of policing power that constables possess when dealing with service personnel or civilians subject to service discipline."
I doubt they've had remotely as much training in the law as actual police.
Same reason you have Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery, Royal Logistics corps, Royal Marines etcIt depends on the country,I think. In some countries, military police has such powers (or,at least, partially). In other countries, their powers are limited.
As for the UK, I found only something like that:
And + Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_police_of_the_United_Kingdom
Royal Military Police - Wikipedia

So,as far as I understand, you were right regarding the UK military police, they can only "assist to civilian police forces" blabla
Why "royal" military police though...
Archaic and pathetic,in my opinion... a bit like you try to make emptiness sound. "Bombastic engineers, bombastic artillery" etcSame reason you have Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery, Royal Logistics corps, Royal Marines etc
Well that's your opinionArchaic and pathetic,in my opinion... a bit like you try to make emptiness sound. "Bombastic engineers, bombastic artillery" etc
Experience of having dealt with them. Well, RAF police anyway. Why do you doubt that?
Fair enoughExperience of having dealt with them. Well, RAF police anyway.
Remember, this is a country that calls itself "Great" Britain. I'm surprised Bojo didn't rebrand it to 'Bombastic Brexit Britain' because Great was too understated. And yes, 'Great' can be claimed to be a geographic term but its completely redundant and I don't think any other country felt the need to pre-fix their name in this way.Archaic and pathetic,in my opinion... a bit like you try to make emptiness sound. "Bombastic engineers, bombastic artillery" etc
I wonder if people worry about the archaic name of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Yes,also thought to mention it in the beginning, but didn't want to find myself crucified on the British flag next day (with a shout "well that's your opinion")Remember, this is a country that calls itself "Great" Britain.
Literally just means big, cause there was also "lesser" Britain (Britannia major and Britannia minor), but by all means continue to "go off"Remember, this is a country that calls itself "Great" Britain.
The same thing applies here in the United States if martial law is declared. No that's not true. Military police can be granted the power of arrest under certain civil circumstances. I am guessing although I may be wrong that if the military are given control of the border crossing that there will be some in their number that can make an arrest
Just wait until you hear about all the other countries in the world with a royal family as the figurehead of the military and have royal in the names of some branches of their military, gonna have a ******* heart attack
