Anyone know which electoral college tally/map is most accurate?
BBC and Google showing different numbers and I can't tell how up to date Google's is/how it's calculated (states have declared but no change in numbers - so is it counting before they declared, and if so surely it should be dishing out every vote and then adjusting on the fly rather than having a bunch undeclared?)

apparently there isn't a central "official" count, the individual states just announce their winner out into the ether and thats why so often someone will have to concede before the new president is announced...madness

So spent the last few hours with a couple of American friends with a "don't mention the war" provisio put on it which was a nice detox.

Looks like Biden has won it but its just going take a bunch of bullshirt to overturn this election now that the supreme court won't uphold.

real pity it wasn't convincing enough to deter challenges

Yup it was always a hope and a possible one but polls said this was Biden win either tight (which it is) or hugely. The hugely hasn't happened but its was in within the margin and unlikely to get overturned. Now look to to the Senate likely Republican and 4 years of indecision. But in terms of interna6ional the president is key everything else is internal to fix and maybe we'll get decent candidates in 2024 Ivanka V Harriss who the **** know,

I'd be surprised if they do tbf.

Big reason for this turnout has been anti-trump rather than pro-biden
Depends the seats you have to remember Senate seats are 6 years so the ones up in 2 years (2022) are Hillary's losses from 2016. The fact they aren't up against a presidential election makes a massive difference. We get a similar effect with local elections when they aren't against a general election and when they are.

I'm going to add, if Trump had won comfortably, i would have accepted it as the will of the people, they get what they deserve etc

today would have been easier if trump would have won. I woke up thinking that Trump would win and was ready to go on with my day. Came back from the track and I checked the map; saw Biden had a chance and I have gotten zero work done today.

We accepted it with huge frustration in 2016 (see political thread 1) but the result was accepted.

As an American in the great state of California, I just want to express my thanks to all of you in Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the rugby World for taking an interest in our politics. I'm a Geography buff and love learning about other countries and the way they do things. And I'm glad there's so many others on this board that have similar interests. I'm raising my can of Dr. Pepper in a toast to you all. :)
