[2022 Six Nations] Scotland vs England (05/02/22)

So looks like England are in for another 5th place finish this season, but dont worry there just not peaking outside the WC or they are a developing team....

The 6,7 and 8 didnt work, simmonds isnt a traditional smash up the middle 8 (he more like faletau), curry is good in defence but his ball carrying is alot to be desired same with ludlam.
A better combination would be 6. barbeary / dombrant 7. curry and 8 simmonds to give some forward muscle momentum.

Ben youngs is not just past it but he cant see it anymore, hes too slow to a ruck, too slow to get the ball out and his box kicking to nowhere is as terrible a game plan as the the lions vs south africa.

Running with daly and slade as centres, made it too light, we had no one to straighten up and drag in defenders to open space on the outside. yes they can both kick but that shouldn't be the only game plan. either tuliagi needs to get fit or england need to find a big centre.

But the fault lies at eddies feet, with the amount of resources available at his feet we shouldnt be looking at a 5th place finish two tournaments in a row, god imagine if italy were any good.

I take it you didn't watch the Ireland vs. Wales game then?

We shouldn't have lost that game but I don't see how a narrow and contentious away loss to Scotland makes us likely to finish 5th?

For the rest of your post … umm no.

For starters, Dombrandt absolutely isn't a 6.

I'm not a fan of Youngs, but Randall definitely isn't the answer. Quirke may be, but it's way too soon and with Faf back for a Sale, he'll likely find himself warming the bench. Robson, maybe, but not much better than Youngs. Same for Spencer.

I'm a reasonably big fan of Malins and I think he has a great rugby brain but he just seems unable to beat a defender which, as a winger, just isn't good enough.
Yeah. Plus he tried to truck it into traffic several times today and made 0 metres each time. Not sure what the plan was

Imagine sitting there in the Monday review/watching the game as Randall or Quirke respectively and thinking "apparently my standard of play is lower than this"
If Randall doesn't even get a fee now I hope it doesn't break him. If the in form scrum half in the premiership can't get on in that game at all with that quarter from Youngs then what's the point.

As for Wales, even before the Scotland vs England match I wondered if I should put a cheeky one on Wales to beat England. Can't imagine it'll be so lucrative now.

Mitchell's been going well. The problem is that absolutely none of them has been given a decent run in the side, so we have no idea who might replace Youngs. Surely he'll go when Jones does... won't he?

Mitchell is the in form prem 9 as much as I don't like saying it

Did I watch a different game to everyone else? I saw a try out of nothing and one bad mistake from LCD but other than that, I don't recall Scotland genuinely threatening us again even once. Worth adding this is the Scotland team that were heavily hyped as favourites. They were rubbish and extremely fortunate to win IMO.

It's fair to say we fired few shots of our own given the possession we had, but compare that to Wales who were completely dominated for 80mins.

Scotland didn't do too much against us but we also never looked like threatening them. Serious changes are needed for our attack IMO. Not a single back looked like breaking the line today and our distribution was boggin' as no one actually straightened up and took it to the line.

Youngs has had some good games and moments, but I find it genuinely astonishing that he's about to become England's most capped player ever.

We offered nothing whatsoever in attack. With that much possession the backs ought to have had a lot of fun, but they just got slow slow slow ball.

1 Jason Leonard 1990–2003 114 Prop
2 Ben Youngs 2010– 112 Scrum-half
3 Dylan Hartley 2008–2018 97 Hooker
4 Dan Cole 2010–2019 95 Prop
5 Owen Farrell 2012– 94 Fly-half
6 Jonny Wilkinson 1998–2011 91 Fly-half
7 Courtney Lawes 2009- 90 Lock
8 Lawrence Dallaglio 1995–2007 85 Number 8
Rory Underwood 1984–1996 Wing
10 Danny Care 2008–2018 84 Scrum-half
Martin Johnson 1993–2003 Lock

I struggle with some of those names but no way Youngs should be ahead 9f Leonard, St. Johnny, Dallaglio Underwood and Johnson.

Should been gove short shift years ago.

He is the human embodiment of putting lead weights in too fast race cars, his entire game plan seems to be slow down quick ball or kick the bloody thing away.

I feel sorry for the other 9's in england, doesn't matter how well they play or what they achieve they will never get a look in or will be given token minutes and be blamed for not turning games around with the little time their given,

This year has really killed my love for rugby, theres only so much disappointment that someone can take
