[2022 Six Nations] Scotland vs England (05/02/22)

.

With 4 minutes to go we have 2 Saracens locks and a Saracens hooker.

Isiekwe is replaced by Ewels. We then have a line out that could have turned the whole game and they throw to Ewels fresh on and without that instinctive understanding with George. And that's quite apart of what you generally think of Ewels.

No problems with the decision to go for the line out but whoever called that line out got it badly wrong. Should have gone to Itoje all day.

it's international rugby George isn't some youngster who needs someone to hold his hand it was underthrown the Scottish lock didn't even have to reach for it.

It's like saying Smith needs Farrel or Andre.

Group B of the World Cup is really looking like the group of death

Very good discipline from Scotland and Townsend's stock must be rising further. Finn just his usual self, with 2x crosskicks with no penalty advantage and they call that game management. :p

England weren't as lacking in intensity as I'd expect from them in a losing performance, they just looked a bit disjointed. I actually like that they had the ambition to not just stuff it up their jumper and hopefully for them they reap the benefits of that in 2023.

Lots of coaching errors there.

Not bringing George on for Malins as soon as we had a defensive lineout, then when LCD's sin bin was done sending Nowell on for him instead.
Fetching Smith off when we're 7 points up.
Not having Quirke on the bench. (I mean what was the point of Randall if he didn't get a go)
Not having Quirke on the pitch, quite frankly.
Not selecting specialist wingers.
Allowing a right-footer to kick the penalty to touch on the RHS when there are two left-footers in the side.
Ewels.

What did I miss? It's all stuff that was either obvious to the vaguely-trained eye or obviously not the best course of action. That's one game thrown away.

Remembering my Scottish grandfather, it's nice to see ma ain folk being competitive again.

Daly should never play centre again.
Chance v Italy to try Northmore and Slade with Malins and Marchant on wings

Was a bit behind and only just finished so not seen thread but Eddie Jones lost that match single handedly, 4 or 5 changes immediately at a crucial time and not only that every change he made was worse/detrimental. Especially leaving on clear problems like Youngs at 9 who got slower and slower even getting sacked by his opposite number when the ball should have been miles away.

Mental. Well done Scotland.

I said Daly starting was ridiculous but was told he was a class centre.

England really need to make a call on 13 aswell.
Would rather Northmore or Marchant got in there and bring in OHC on the wing.

Daly on the bench covers a good amount of positions.
