2021 British & Irish Lions Squad

Is this the first of many? This was always the risk. On top of the Boks having covid too.

Apparently they're looking for other opposition- maybe we'll play Georgia if the Springbok squad also have to isolate because of positive tests?

Not the worst Plan B although I just read that the Georgians have four positive cases so probably unlikely. They'll probably try and switch the Sharks with another club side.

If this had to happen better to happen now rather than the week of the first test

So long as the main 3 tests go ahead

On that note, Springboks have been hit hard by Covid.

Four more players and 6 coaches have it, including Marvin Orie, Frans Steyn, Handre Pollard, Frans Malherbe... and Jacques Nienaber.

I read somewhere that they were due to go into their bubble on Monday evening only 5 days before the match. Not exactly great. Should've been longer tighter bubbles than that especially as it appears it was SA who really pushed it to go ahead over there when it seemed it was going to go ahead in the UK

Aye that's a pisstake, that is
England were in a bubble for like two months during the 6N, not allowed to even eat at the same tables, no socialising etc.

Lions are in a bubble in SA atm as well, and have been for, what, two? Three? Weeks before they left
SA can't do a week?

Gatland when he gets asked why Adam Beard

Might as well split the lions camp in two.
Wales and Scotland v England and Ireland
Won't even be a real contest, plus it has been done before just not a Lion's banner

Only that time it was Wales+England v Scotland+Ireland

I think the Tests in South Africa will still go ahead. Too late to go anywhere else and as South Africa is a Red Country they would have to quarantine anyway when they get back to the UK. They are in South Africa and the players on both sides will be desperate to play.

Now two Lions players are self-isolating after coming into close contact with a coach who has tested positive.

Really starting to look like the beginning of the end of the tour. I fear that tonight's match might be the last.
