Border Bulldogs flanker Solly Tyibilika will captain the Southern Kings when they play the British and Irish Lions in Port Elizabeth on June 16.

The Southern Kings are a team that were originally known as a Coastal XV and are in South Africa's plans to be included in the Super 15.

According to Port Elizabeth's local newspaper the Dispatch, former Grey High School and England utility back Michael Catt could also run out against the British tourists.

That is if the team is signed off by Southern Kings chief selector and president of the Boland Rugby Union, Francois Davids, and if selected players are available.

The dispatch reports that in e-mailed correspondence between Southern Kings coach Alan Solomons to Davids, Solomons forwarded the names of players he would like to field which included former and current Border Bulldogs players in scrumhalf Josh Fowles, fullback Tiger Mangweni and lock Lungile Payi.

Apparently not available are Gcobani Bobo (WP), Skipper Badenhorst (Sharks), Fabian Juries, Hilton Lobberts (WP), Albert van den Berg (Sharks) and Luke Watson (WP).

Solomons is also waiting to hear about the possible availability of Old Selbornian and Sharks scrumhalf Rory Kockott.

The launch of the Eastern Cape franchise coincides with the match against the touring Lions.

The Southern Kings team list as forwarded by Solomons is the following:

Tiger Mangweni, Vuyo Zangqa, Rudi Coetzee, De Wet Barry, Wylie Human, Mike Catt, Neil de Kock, Daan Human, Hanyani Shimanga, BJ Botha, Mpho Mboyosi, Ross Skeate, Trevor Hall, Solly Tyibilika, Darren Nel.

Reserves: Gary Botha, Faan Rautenbach, Lungile Payi, Robbie Diack, Josh Fowles, Mzwandile Stick and Brent Russell.[/b]

Wow thats a pretty impressive Southern Kings side if all these palyers are selected, quite a few old Springboks in this team... De Wet Barry, Neil de Kock, Daan Human, Hanyani Shimanga, BJ Botha, Gary Botha, Faan Rautenbach, Solly Tyibilika & Brent Russell and if Catt would play that would make it 10 players that have played international rugby.
