2021 British & Irish Lions Squad

Do people hate POM? I guess he's not the most loveable but he seems alright. A little bit dirty but not the worst. Always seemed alright to me though there are loads of other Irish players I like more I suppose.
He seems intent on causing as much brain damage as possible via illegal off the ball stuff. The guy is pure scum.

What a smooth brain take... Pure scum, get a grip
I could pull up clips all day and I'm sure you would defend him as a man of great morals, but explain to me how this can be anything other than thuggishness? 1:20
Almost every game he has something dirty like that, but because it's regional rugby it never gets talked about or brought up, as if it never happened.

Rugby, at its core, is a game about who can cheat the best.
How are you defining cheating? Setting out to deliberately deceive (e.g. munching blood capsules or claiming a fit player was substituted because he was injured) is different to hoping to gain an advantage by doing something against the laws and hoping that nobody notices. The latter is the skill that's useful in rugby, but I wouldn't term it cheating - there is no attempt to deceive, just a player taking a gamble risking the potential benefit versus the penalty for getting caught.

For me playing on the edge is one thing. Throwing a ball in when you know it's dead and the other team are clearly waiting for a line out is cheating. Yes the ref and touch judge messed up, but Phillips knew what he was doing.

In the same vein then competing for the ball when you know your off your feet or playing the ball when knowing your offside is also cheating?

Worst that could happen to him here is he gets pulled back, nothing ventured nothing gained. Its on the refs not him to stop it, same as slowing down ball in rucks, or a myriad of other offences. Schalke Burger on the other hand, a totally different kettle of fish, that eye gouge in '09. Thats not rugby

Its all cheating, just we as rugby fans accept some cheating and not others.

I think the defining line is the ball, is about trying to gain possession, slowing down recycling or move further forward than you were. If those are what your doing we generally agree its the ref jobs to police things correctly and getting away with it as acceptable.

If its anything else its pretty much a no no, like deliberately blocking/tipping players chasing a ball at the mild end of the spectrum to bloodgate at the more extreme end.

There's definitely levels to it as there is with most things but it's all cheating. Deliberately not rolling away to slow down the ball, feeding the scrum, knowingly clearing out from the side etc etc, it's all the same just to varying degrees or seriousness.

I would love you to pull up more clips! I'm guessing the next one will be the red vs Wales..... because it's his only straight red which he absolutely DID deserve by the way, but that doesn't make him or any player (Liam Williams to take another recent example) guilty of an idiotic hit "scum". I would accept him being called reckless in light of his record this year but calling someone scum for THAT is a joke.
Also he does it every week? If he did he'd have a waaaay longer disciplinary record than he does. Pretty mad that this disgusting act only warranted a yellow card to the ref, the TMO and the citing commission. My favorite part of this clip is the Scarlets 21 sliding in with his knees when the ball was already grounded though.

There is way way way worse players I could name for being genuinely nasty than O'Mahony.

Yawn lol.

no idea where I promised anything? Go back and have a read. Also read the bit where I said you'd loyally defend him to the bitter end. Tragic.
So when i say AWJ is a geriatric piece of garbage with "dildo fingers" and less rugby ability than my departed granny, but you'll defend him to the bitter end so you're just a ninny if you do in fact now defend him.

Though I do defer to the fans of a nation who's specialty is getting other players sent off

His crowning moment must be calling someone a "vagina" against England, with no fan noise to cover it

"I could pull up clips all day" but you can't...... Here I will help you. See if there's anything in this pretty crap clickbait video that smacks of pre meditated attempts to hurt:

Mostly just the usual comes to nothing shoving we see every week in rugby.

Also just on defending him to the bitter end, I have been very critical of O'Mahony's standard of play and his idiotic red card this past year in particular. I think what's tragic is calling someone pure scum based off a Yellow card offence.
