[2019 Six Nations] Scotland vs Ireland (09/02/2019)

POM MOTM. Ah **** off would ye. Falling off tackles and being anonymous in the loose must have swung it for him. Maybe it was it the kicks. Yeah definitely the kicks.

Does that mean you think Murray is playing well or even average?

Neither, it means that Leinster Fan would probably be defending him if he played for Leinster... it was pretty much there for the reading!

Dillane has had a good cameo. Good for him after what's been a rough period.

Not getting the bonus point is annoying in the end but leaving Scotland with a solid win is always good.

Kearney MOM for me POM was good though, don't see it as such a terrible decision personally

Well PoM is man of the match. Think a few people disagree with that on here. As an Englishman I'll take that result happily.

Should have won that by far more if we were in any way accurate

Not sure what match everyone else was watching. I saw a bunch of positive contributions from POM. Not sure I would have picked him for MotM, but I figured he'd be in contention for it. He had far from a bad game.

This isn't just the red goggles talking either, cos I agree that Murray's still way off his best.

Not a great game of rugby - Ireland deserved their win but Scotland were surprisingly poor - you simply cannot win any international game of rugby if you keep knocking the ball on that frequently.

I think Scotland lost that more than Ireland winning it.
I still think Scotland don't have the depth to cope with injuries. They are more competitive than 10-15 years ago, but they need more consistency to win the tournament.

I saw him fall off more than one tackle and he wasn't half as busy as O'Brien all game. He's obviously wasn't carrying so i'm not sure what i missed.

Scotland will rightfully be frustrated with themselves but there was a bonus point there for the taking for us at the same time.

Laidlaw whining about Poite, bitter little prick

I could watch that Maitland pass for hours, that's hilarious

I think Ireland's loss will not have a positive effect on them. I dont think it'll spur them on. The 6N has gone. They are ex-champions with only elimination in pool A at the hands of Japan to look forward to for 2019. Last year or the year before I'd have fancied Scotland for this in the circumstances, but not now as:

- Townsend is going is strange directions. I don't know who he'll pick at 12.
- Seymour and Huw were almost world class at times in the past 18 montha, now they are more subdued. Kinghorn is blossoming though which is a bonus for a side starved of options at wing.
- Laidlaw does not play to the strengths of the Scottish backs (although he has been adapting well and quickening his pace). Scotland should be trying to play at light speed with Horne or Price at 9 to defeat a team with a stronger pack and well marshalled defence.
- Italy were pretty abject last week. Scotland might not come into this battle hardened.

I'm thinking something like Ireland by 10, but Schmidt not gambling on the BP Ireland need to realistically stay in the tournament.

I could have saved myself the bother of watching and re-read my post. I don't think either side will be remotely happy with that and ultimately we could be seeing 3rd vs 5th come the end of the tournament.

Poite has difficulty refereeing not in his native language, and can be more infuriating as a result. But that was poor for Laidlaw to say that in the post match interview. For pundits to complain about too much advantage in a game with so little scoring in the second half is also not something I agree with.

I wouldn't say he was poor but I would have had him well down the queue for MotM.
