[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 5: Ireland vs. Scotland (19/03/2016)

on this form yes but I still wouldn't be surprised to see 1/2p or Brown get the starting nod above him.

If Gatland is charge I doubt he has any chance to start.

I agree,it totally depends on who the manager is. But,for what it's worth depending on how the next year goes. I think Hogg, the Gray's,Seymour Laidlaw are in with a shout.
Before everybody who isn't Irish or Scottish on this Ireland v Scotland thread gets all balshy,I am of course talking about possible squad positions, not starting team.
Let the mayhem commence.

I really dislike when players call for penalties, just like Ireland's no. 4 there. Should be an instant penalty the other way.

As for Hogg - he saw a gap between two front rowers, stepped and turned on the after-burners. That should be standard full-back play, no? I sometimes get sad at how wowed we get about what should be the basics.

Slightly harsh I think. And often the very best sights on a rugby field are the basics done properly.

Would Brown have seen the gap? And if so, would he have had the gas?

TBH I suspect the Grays would struggle get in England's EPS. Kruis, Itoje & Launchbury all are probably better players. Then they are competing with Lawes and Astwood.

Laidlaw has been doing that at every breakdown pointing to the Irish player and shouting at the ref......

Anyone really believe that Weir is international class?

Ha Sexton gets his plea into the ref before collapsing into his usual position.......

Scotland have been very loose again, but I have to say the ref is giving us nothing at the breakdowns. If Ireland we're allowed to slow it down any more Laidlaw could have a water break instead of rushing to the base and waiting for Ireland to release.

Sexton complaining to the ref then rolling around like a footballer, pure class that guy.

And now we are seeing sexton milking it. Definite penalty but no need for throwing your arms up before feigning injury.

Was really weird.
I know he has major concussion issues but the appeal before the rolling on the floor makes it look majorly football dive

I don't like Sexton's actions but its pretty clear yellow maybe lucky to not see red.

Well, that was a fun game. Unlucky Scotland. Given he landed safely vertical, I'd have preferred... well, nothing for that. Oh well. Dumb though, given the way the game's being reffed... although at Murrayfield with no one complaining, nothing would have happened.

Yes and not enough to go all the way. Would have pretty much any SH full-back? Yeah.

I am being harsh here it's true. And the basics done right are beautiful. But the superlatives piled on the try in some quarters were, imo, over the top.

I'd kill to get Jonny Gray.

Watch the rolling mauls from Wales v Italy then compare Ireland's v Scotland. The rules are the rules and Scotland once again have been instrumental in their own downfall, but Christ it would be nice to see some refereeing consistancy

"the Gray's would struggle to get in England's EPS".
Really
