[2015 Six Nations] England

Just seen that Brookes is called up as cover for Wilson, who can't train this week, not Cole.

So we'll be going into the Wales game with at least one prop who's barely fit/hasn't been training, if not two!

In the centres, each successive injury has mainly been an additive effect; But as long as Joseph stays fit and available, we'll still be able to put out as good as pairing as if Lancaster had his first choice (Barritt and Tuilagi probably)

However if Joseph is injuried there'll be a bit of a multiplier effect insofar as we will lose any potential dynamism in the centres.
And in the second row, it's not as bad as all that until the point where Attwood gets injured; I'm not sure how we'd cope with that.
From : Launchbury, Lawes and Attwood ------> Kitchener, Kruis, and Day - that's a bit of a loss to be loss let's be honest!

Whats this about Wilson being a possible doubt?

EDIT: Olyy beat me to it as always; what is the liklihood of Cole being fit? You hear conflicting things....

Don't wan to read pages as I missed a lot but is it a good or a very bad news for you to have lost Farell ? He was not very consistent in the past tournaments with England ...

Do we have a list of all our injuries? It's getting ridiculous. Wales have an almost full health squad whilst ours is being torn apart through injuries.

er, what?

Also, Shane Geraghty has been called into the England Squad as centre cover (who'd have thunk it) -he'll train on Friday

10 first choice players out - list is (from BBC):
Ben Foden (knee - out for season), Manu Tuilagi (groin - could return next month), Kyle Eastmond (shoulder - will miss first Six Nations match), Brad Barritt (knee - will miss first Six Nations match), Owen Farrell (knee - out for whole Six Nations), Dan Cole (ankle - could return in next two weeks), Joe Launchbury (neck - could be fit by April), Courtney Lawes (ankle - could return mid-late February), Geoff Parling (knee - will miss opening Six Nations match), Ed Slater (knee - could be fit by April), Tom Wood (ankle - will miss first Six Nations match), Ben Morgan (leg - out for season)

Now Wilson (possibly) & Burrell (possibly)

"I didn't want to cause any further disruption to the Saxons so Shane's addition is a good opportunity for him on the back of good form and helps us to train with appropriate numbers on Friday," said Lancaster

Haha, he is literally making up the numbers...surely Farrell, or if you wanted someone who was good, Catt, could fill in during the training sessions? Perhaps take it in turns, Catt for defence and Farrell for attack? That way, Catt might be able to coach the attack without Farrell having his say, plus the current centres won't have to be shown up by Catt's passing.

Calling Slater first choice is just a bald-faced lie by any definition of the term. Even as a first choice EPS member he wouldn't make muster and I'm not sure Foden would either.

EPS, is what, 30? 20pc of which is 6, 25pc is 7.5pc, we're missing 8, that's only just above the expected attrition rate...

I'm not calling Slater or Foden first choice, there are 12 in that BBC list and i said 10 first choicers figuring people could work it out themselves. ;)

God, I remember that game when he made his debut and was incredibly exciting. Imagine if he ended up getting another cap?

This 6N is looking increasingly like it might be a disaster tbh...

what, you expect me to count lists now? Jeez

(And my accusation was always at the Beeb, not you)

Wilson, Cole, Farrell, Launchbury, Lawes, Wood and Morgan are all players that are dead on certs for the normal England 23. Between Barritt, Burrell, Eastmond and Tuilagi, I think we can safely assume our first choice centres are out too. Add a third player if you think Lancaster was going to have a centre on the bench (I doubt it though).

So we could end up with 9/23 of the main 23 out! If you think Parling is ahead of Attwood in the pecking order (I personally don't) then that's 10.

I mean, some of these players are easily replaceable, so I'm not worried about guys like Wood and Farrell being injured. But I am very concerned about our front 5!

I don't want to live in a world where Parling is ahead of Attwood.

I imagine the Welsh are in camp kicking their lips right now.

Parling probably is ahead of Attwood in Lancaster's eyes, unbalanced as that is.

I wasn't counting Burrell and Wilson as they're not definites. Add those in (and adjust for the actual figure) and yes, it is looking rather heavy, with a few areas completely blitzed. Panic stations? Eh. I don't think its drastically far beyond what we should be expecting.

I've never tried to do it but if I did manage it my lip would be a bloody mess! ;-)

On a serious note I am not too worried about our front five because I believe we have real quality in depth at 1,3,4 and 5.

Not that its ideal having potentially Wilson and Cole out we do have Kieron Brookes and Henry Thomas as backup (Scott Wilson too) at tighthead. Yes they are not quite at that level yet but from what I've seen in a white shirt I've liked. Most of it may well have been up against weaker shoulders but both have been around the group for quite a while now. The added bonus is they will know the setup and that is important.

Also if we were playing the French I would be more worried but we're instead up against a welsh scrum which is looking decidedly average.

Why the **** is geraghty there?
If you want to make up the numbers get an u20s guy in who would benefit from the experience.
Geraghty aint as bad as he was but that's at 10 - he's still poor at 12.
