[2015 RWC] Bronze Final: South Africa vs. Argentina (30/10/2015)

Really looking forward to this match. Like it was mentioned already, it is another test match between two great teams and I hope we get to watch some good rugby. Besides, if the Pumas win it will be their 2nd victory against the Boks and the 2nd in one year too! I don't think that is something we Argentinians will forget.

I would like to see some fringe players getting a start - Kolisi, Mvovo and Paige for example.

My team would be:

Beast, B du Plessis, Malherbe, Etzebeth, de Jager, Kolisi, Louw, Vermeulen, Paige, Pollard, Mvovo, de Allende, Kriel, Habana, Le Roux / Lambie (would then allow Morne Steyn on the bench for a farewell).

Good for A)Not losing 3 games B) Having an excuse to not work and go a watch the match C) Give some older players their last run( we have several that one manage to play another WC)

I'd much rather take this game seriously than risk getting trounced by Argentina. Its gonna be tough enough as is and we've lost too many this year already (and end of last year!).

We really do need to put some pride back in that jersey and get back to winning ways and the sooner it starts the better. We came close(ish) against NZ but that counts for nothing. This is another chance for a medal for these players even if it isn't gold or silver.

Yeah I don't get all this talk about this match being pointless. It's an international test...if this is pointless then every match that doesn't decide the winner of the World Cup, National Championship or 6N is pointless. There's pride at stake whenever you represent your country and I always look forward to seeing first class rugby. Obviously I wish we were in the finals but life goes on, it's not time to sulk, take our ball and go home.

More of a mental pointless I sometimes wonder, you come to the WC to win it and then you have to play another game after getting knocked out.

They are most probably mentally, physically and emotionally drained and to get up and slog your guts out for 80 mins must be hard.

I think the Bokke will have their revenge on these boys over the RC loss

if you take this kind of atitude then any competition eg (6 Nations 5 Nations B 6Nations) you go and lose the first game then all becomes pointless to win the rest, and what about the smaller nations who will never ever win the World Cup, Japan, Georgia, Canada who knew they would not make the 1/4 finals but showed true spirit and great ability and entretained millions with their great rugby, should they give up mentally and physically, of course not. The mini finale is part of the World Cup and both teams will be going out there to win on Fri, there is still bucket loads of pride to be able to finish 3rd.

I'm wondering if the Pumas have the players to be able to match it with the Springboks, with those three players out with injury; Argentina, you have had a great tournament, and you are definitely a team on the rise internationally, but I think the Boks will win this one ... I agree that 3rd/4th play off must be mentally tough to get prepared for as a player, but I don't see this game as a pointless game from a fans perspective. I'll certainly watch it and enjoy it.

I think this match will be a true indicator whether HM is really commited as the Bok coach or not. This particular match will show his true worth as a coach to get his players physically and most importantly mentally ready for who's going to be ranked 3rd or 4th.

I read somewhere that he doesn't care and he only considered the win against NZ as being successful and he's only there to serve blah blah blah but I also read somewhere that he's been given another contract to carry on as the Bok coach after the RWC?

As for the players themselves, physically and mentally they'd be drained but if HM is worth his salt then this of all matches would certainly be his defining moment as a coach to instal belief as a COACH.

I think the AB's played better and deserved to win but I also think the game could have gone either way. What stuck out for me especially in the first half was how the Boks were holding us up in the tackle and Burger should have been there pilphering or fetching etc but he wasn't......if the same tactics were applied by Australia, you'd see Pocock and/or Fardy having more of an impact.

On paper, the Boks should win especially after the Pumas injuries. But I feel the Pumas want this more and if the Pumas win then I'd say it's because HM has given up mentally as a coach.

This game is VERY important.

To all All Black supporters, if you are going to watch this match, then you will earn a lot of respect! Just saying :D

It's on at 7AM here in Aus so I'll be up for it anyway. I initially thought Argentina would win, they are a great team but might struggle without their 3 stars. I agree South Africa should send off their greats by allowing them to play their last world cup game.

are you actually serious?

These players get another chance to pull their country's jersey over their heads. This is the dream of countless yet these 23 get that chance. They get another chance to go out on a better note. They get a chance to play another game of rugby. If this game is pointless then all rugby is pointless.

yes

They already had their revenge.

Hardly...

We are still invoking revenge for every test match we play against England for something they did in 1800's.

Argentina are now on our Revenge-list, and if you're on it, you don't easily get off it.

to many injuries creevi, imhoff, hermandez, tuculet, isa and sanchez has some ninor injury too

Bok Team will be announced tonight.

Looks like there aren't any injury concerns, and Fourie Du Preez's cheekbone isn't fractured.
