[2015 RWC] Bronze Final: South Africa vs. Argentina (30/10/2015)

Nobody cares what you say. Rather keep your comments for yourself and go talk where your team is involved with.

You already made your bed for this thread.

Enjoy the 3rd place play-off mate, I think reruns of the Jap game are on tonight as well.

I'm in two minds about the game. First also thought the game's a bit senseless, mentioned it on another thread. I forgot that a few guys will finish Bok rugby with this game. So go Bokke, go Argentina, have a good game, no injuries and enjoy!

Kiwi, can you stop coming into threads and making deliberately incendiary comments in order to pick petty squabbles with people? This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen it.

I think that the calls that this game is senseless is a bit narrowminded. Yes, both teams lost their semifinals. Ironically both these teams lost their first game of the tournament too. But this game gives these 2 teams a bit more closure.

This game will also have an impact on the World Rankings. And these 2 teams IMHO needs this game to show which one of them were the better side this year. They played each other twice this year and each team got an away win. Now on Neutral ground they can have one last hurrah. And by saying that, I think it could be a very enjoyable game to watch as neither team will have any pressure on them.

I don't wish to be rude but I do think it's superficial to see a play-off between the two losing semi-finalists as pointless. Inherently, are there any major differences between that sort of interpretation being applied to those athletes who finish below silver in the Olympic and World Games? As an Englishman, and bitterly disappointed at our showing, I'm looking forward to seeing both games, even though my team is not involved in either. It's not a good look for a person, and especially when they exhibit such hubris, to show disrespect to great players and athletes, just because their team is in the final and the favourites to win. There's also your own team's future development and improvement that can be connected to it. I don't know when, for example, England are next to face Argentina and South Africa, but I'd be very happy to see us up against the third and fourth ranked teams in the world, particularly if we managed to beat them.

As I said, at first I thought so, now not so much anymore. Enjoy the game.

If the Olympics and Soccer World Cups can have bronze medals, then why not this ? It's another game of the RWC, and i'm looking forward to it. It's quite late. 10pm CAT.

Wonder if Romain Poite will be the ref ?

I think we'll lose, but at least I hope Sánchez can be top scorer of WC.

I'm excited about this game, even if the tanks are half-full. We're bowing out and sending off senior boks. Perhaps these teams are demoralized, but this match still holds relevance. Can't really believe any serious rugby fan would think that a RWC 3rd/4th playoff is irrelevent or unimportant. Glad the boks are concluding their WC this way and didn't go out in the quaters or pool stage. Heartbroken, but not all too dissapointing considering our record these past few month, and I for one, am exited for what the future may bring.

Has this fixture ever produced a good game?

It is a match for losers- Who cares if they finish third or fourth, they still did not win and no one will remember!

It is a money making fixture which serves absolutely no purpose and is, frankly, an insult to the players to make them play!

To anyone who thinks that this game is pointless, just take a look at the bronze final in 2007 and see how Arg played, fought and enjoyed that game, and how France suffered to lost it.
Honestly, i think its a huge match, and I would watch it whether Arg would be playing it or not.

Regarding the game, we will be missing 3 key players such as Creevy, Hernandez and Imhoff. However, I think we can still win it, specially if SA are a bit demoralized, however, I dont think that will be the case. They wont like ending with 3 loses in the WC, and even less with a negative balance against Arg in 2015.

I'm pretty sure most Argentines vividly remember 2007's game, and i'd be surprised if the French forgot about it.

I have mixed feelings to be honest. On one hand, they've already given it all and the competition is done for them. Let them rest, go to their families. But on the other hand i love the sport, and if there is a pub showing what promises to be a good rugby game and they've got some decent beer on draft, count me in, regardless of the colors they wear.

All the haters can go smoke a pipe.

This is another test match. Anyone who loves the game, will enjoy this as another test match.

This might be true for the big rugby nations, but not for us.
I can assure you we still very much remember the third place in 2007 and surely we would remember a third place here.
Not to mention how great it would be to close the tournament with a win over SA (although I dont think that will happen).
Despite of everything thats being said about this game, Im sure the boks dont want to lose to argentina again and will come to this game with full strength and guns blazing.

Are you actually serious?

These players get another chance to pull their country's jersey over their heads. This is the dream of countless yet these 23 get that chance. They get another chance to go out on a better note. they get a chance to play another game of rugby. If this game is pointless then ALL rugby is pointless.

It makes me very happy to see so many boks fans taking this game seriously and not belittling it like many neutrals are.
It is yet another proof of how great you guys are and how much you love the sport.

I for one love it that Argentina are now a rugby power. Argentinians can be very proud of their team.

I like rugby, will probably watch the match, but lets not pretend this is a nothing game, no team really wants to play they'd rather be in the other game, you mentally dead from loosing a SF how do you get up for it. Until I checked yesterday I'd not even noted England played in the 1995 edition that's how well these things are remembered.

Yes there are ranking points and some pride to be played for. If England were be playing I'd want them to win it but no more so than any other match.

Honestly gun to your head if your team wasn't playing this match would you mind if it wasn't played at all in future editions?

I'd much rather this was a shield cup match.
