2014 QBE Internationals [EOYT] England

You really get a sense of the passion he has for that goal, don't you?

So much passion...

I'm hoping someone in the England management has out a copy of this article on Lancaster's desk with that quote highlighted, 'Read this before selecting this moron'.

Seriosly - if anyone at the RFU has any intention of even considering him they need a ****ing slap.

But Australian props are sought the world over for their scrummaging proficiency....... Surely England would be crazy to turn him away ;)

Thing is, the Torygraph is usually fairly accurate with its EPS rumours and if there is a rumour going around the press then that would explain why Mullens couldn't stop mentioning him every time the word 'tighthead' came up last weekend. He was even talking about him in the Wasps game!

I'd also dispute what that article says about him getting one up in Joe Marler.

Selecting Longbottom would undo literally years of good work in bringing through young English talent and trying to tie the team to a sense of national identity.

I completely agree - it would be genuinely disgraceful.

The guy is competent at best. Mullan had controlled him pretty easily I think so what does he offer us ? Even if Adam Jones was English qualified I don't want him in the team. Longbottom playing for England sets a horrible chain reaction of ****** off fans and players a like.

Just a point re his competency, was he going to be selected prior to signing with Saracens or was he genuinely a no hoper?

It might even me worse than Shontayne Hape? At least he played more than two matched before signalling he'd happily play for England.

Way worse... Hape had been living in England for 5 years when he signed for Bath.

Surely they wouldnt select him? They wouldnt be that stupid would they?

The Paterson of Sale selection annoyed me let alone this one.

I would actually question Lancasters position if he chose to select him...

Indeed. In fact, much as I dislike the notion of someone with NZ league caps playing union for England, you can't deny that Hape certainly gave a lot to the England team and clearly didn't come looking for a cap but was asked and signed on. The only time he looked out of place was facing the haka...

If you are talking about him for the Aussies then I believe McKenzie wanted him to play this year, but he said he wanted to go and play in England. How he is even considered for England is beyond me, if you base him off his games against Wasps and Quins then Barrington would have a case but even Du Plessis did more damage.

Longbottom would be fine if we can find a Potter and Weasley to complete the front row, if just for a laugh.

On the plus side we could do away with all those annoying academies and just import players!

You know, the academies that have created two Junior World Championship winning sides... and have produced about six very promising young tightheads... and a large number of the current England squad's most talented players... and a depth the international side has lacked for over a decade.

Yeah, **** that.

So in summary:

. If he plays for England it is madness

. If you're a young English tighthead, probably a JWC winner, reading this article you'll want to cry.

. He's a bit rubbish

. The rugby media will seemingly copy what a players' Director of Rugby says about him rather than actually investigating whether he really is a 'superb technical scrumager'

. He's not good at giving quotes.

Well we (The Falcons ) got beat at the weekend...but Keiron Brookes (playing at LH) and young Scott Wilson showed we and England have two cracking props.

We have a couple of quality TH presuming Cole is ok when he returns and we have Sinkler and Brookes coming through . Why bother with the Aussie ?

As we have had 3 rounds of games in the AP now I'll throw my 23 out for the first game against NZ

1. Corbisiero
2. Hartley
3. Wilson
4. Lawes
5. Attwood
6. Haskell
7. Robshaw
8. Vunipola
9. Care
10. Cipriani
11. Yarde
12. Eastmond
13. Tuilagi
14. Rokoduguni
15. Brown
16. Webber
17. Marler
18. Sinkler
19. Launchbury
20. Morgan
21. Youngs
22. Farrell
23. Watson

Harsh on Ford I know but I don't feel like he's as ready as Cipriani and Farrell is in to provide 12 cover

I've don't think there's much between attwood and joe but attwood has edged it at the start of the season for me . Also I'd love to see Nowell in there too maybe in the 23 short but he's been injured so needs time
