[2014 Mid-Year Tests] England

Lancaster requested Cipriani be rested vs London Irish, according to this:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ru...r-him-to-be-rested-from-Sale-Sharks-game.html

I have a feeling this is more looking at the Barbarians game than the tour to NZ, as surely 4 weeks between this weekend and the first test would be enough time to recover?
Also mentions that Paterson may feature in the training squad. Don't particularly like the granny players, but he's been superb this season. I reckon, if named, he'll play vs Barbarians but not go down under.

Anything that has "the telegraph understands" I'm now sceptical of since the telegraph clearly didn't understand fan segration.

Well they're usually very good with squad rumours, only the Daily Fail is more accurate.

My take on the Cips thing is more that with Ford and Myler involved in games likely to be physical, must win affaird and Farrell almost a dead cert to play in the final he didn't want to risk Cips getting a knock.

As for Paterson, can't say I've seen enough to judge him as a player. He says he is keen to play for England which is a good start but I thought we'd got over our obsession with using residency/the grandparent rule to get players into the squad?

Thrush will be attending the Wellington camp only and Luke Whitelock the Christchurch camp.

Hell of a strong All Black squad even without Piutau and Romano. Kaino's return just highlights their strength in depth in the back row.

When's Lancaster supposed to announce England's squad to tour? After the AP semis next weekend?

I believe it's named on Thursday or at least part of it I may be wrong though

Lancaster will announce the first group of players for the New Zealand tour on May 15, with a full touring party announced on May 26 after the complexities of availability from domestic and European finals are resolved.

So Barbarians and first test players will be named on Thursday.

Webber is good to go!

...Thank **** for that - what a relief for him personally too.

Might be of interest to some.

I know that's a bit of a random selection of players - but since the telegraph's old stats tool is longer functioning I had to collate that data myself - which took far too long.
I was going to do more, but even I have better ways to spend my time.

would be good when the squad is announced if you could do those stats for the squad... you've got time right? :)
