[2013 EOYT] England

I know a lot of people really rate kvesic but does he really have a ouch above robshaw to displace him? The answer is no right now.

Yes he is faster and better over the ball but I don't think he does all the robshaw things better than robshaw. That's partly because robshaw is doing a lot of 6 things as well as 7 things.

The thing is with billy v on form I can't see kvesic even making the bench now. He needs too level experience now!

I'd agree Kvesic has a few things to prove before he can dislodge Robshaw. Given the usual level of attrition though, it's not stretching probability to think that one of Robshaw, Morgan, Wood and Vunipola will be unavailable come the Six Nations. In which case, he gets a bench spot if fit.

He does quite clearly have all the potential attributes though.

So I've been thinking about our back row and I believe julien salvi would be available for selection at the start of next season as he hasn't played for Australia and will have been in the country for 3 years . I'm a bit biased but I think he's the best open side in the country . Any1 else have any thoughts on this ?

Yeah, that he's been outplayed by Seymour every time they've met :p

I wouldn't cap him unless there was an obscenely long list of injuries.
He's not English (come on, we're not Ireland/Scotland waiting for foreigners to become eligible) and by the time he's eligible we really should be settl[ed/ing] on a side for the RWC not still experimenting.

I'd back Kev to be significantly better than Salvi is in a year or two behind a pack with the dominance Leicester enjoy.

Salvi has played for Australia "A" anyway.

According to Guscott David Strettle tops both the premiership try count as well as the number of clean breaks made. Sad times!

I would, however, genuinely rather have him than Ashton. Guscott seems to think May and Strettle on the wings is more likely.

Agree/disagree?

I think I disagree. Just. Strettle's tries were a hat-trick and a double early in the season; I don't think he's scored since then. In all competitions I think Ashton has scored as many- spread out more evenly. In any case, I'd honestly rather have Ashton. After Strettle managed to butcher three tries in one game in Argentina (Ashton only butchered one this autumn...) a line really should be drawn under him. Lancaster mentioned how he wants player to have an X-Factor on top of good basics: does Strettle have that? I can't think of anything. At least Ashton can claim to run support lines.

I'll put my money on May and Ashton, hope on Nowell and May, and expect Strettle and Ashton. As long as someone like Trinder plays outside-centre, and starts passing the ball to the back three, it'll be an improvement anyway.

---

EDIT: Just checked it (maybe I should have beforehand) and Strettle has scored three doubles, two on consecutive weekends against 14-man Gloucester and under-strength Bath. He scored his last double against the Falcons six weeks ago (and six weeks later). All against weak sides, and little to no consistency.

Nowell and May with trinder in the 13 shirt sounds awesome !!!

Expect barritt Ashton and strettle in those 3 shirts though . And pray to god brown doesn't get injured because Goode will be playing FB and that is enough to make a grown man cry lol

Strettle's only got one more than Cueto, but I think Strettle has played more games.

Get the IRB to strike off the caps of Cobilas and Ostrikov for Moldova/Russia :p

It sounds like Kyle Eastmond is absolutely destroying it in Bath's Amlin game vs Mogliano.

Obviously it's against poor opposition, but it could bode well for his form and confidence going back into the premiership.

Banahan has 4 tries - Bath going for a point a minute.

Fearns ran 2 in aswell . I like him he looks like people should be scared of him lol

I don't watch Kvesic much in the league - can anyone comment on the ways in which he is better than or ahead of Luke Wallace, who looks seriously impressive and has for a while?

Also, Robshaws carrying is SO impressive at the moment. He is the first or second name on the sheet for England still.

Wallace is looking much more impressive than Kvesic this season, to be honest.
Doesn't help that Kvesic is in a terrible pack, but Wallace is looking vvvvveeeeeeerrrrrrryyyyyyyy good.

From what I have seen of Kvesic this season he is not worth his place in the Gloucester team never mind higher representation
