[2013 EOYT] England

Yes the England A can be called the Normans with the selection criteria being only people called Norman may be in the team. I think the whole racial thing would have greater impact in SA for rather obvious reasons. Race hasn't been such a big thing in mainland British history when compared to our ex-colonies.

Name is clearly alluding to Saxon, the NWOBHM band.
Wake up sheeple!

yuk....if they were looking for a good name from an English metal band, then they should have been called the England Godflesh squad...

EDIT: lmao  imagine if they were called the England Napalm Deaths. rofl
great inspiration for the aspiring kids.

He has looked quality tbf, and I remember being impressed with him at U20 level. Just a shame he is a loosehead, will be behind Corbs and probably Mako for a while

Played against him when he used to prop for lymm high school. In 6th form he very suddenly put on a serious amount of muscle...

Thoughts?

Reading into it, expecting:

1. Vunipola
2. Youngs
3. Cole
4. Launchbury
5. Attwood
6. Wood
7. Robshaw
8. Morgan
9. Youngs
10. Farrell
11. Yarde
12. Twelvetrees
13. Tomkins
14. Ashton
15. Brown

16. Hartley
17. Marler
18. Wilson
19. Lawes
20. Vunipola
21. Dickson
22. Flood
23. Foden

This is the squad that I think Lancaster will go for, but I can see him picking Lawes, Vunipola and Foden in the XV too.

Feels great that this confirms that Goode isn't rated as highly as Brown and Foden in Lancaster's mind. Really looking forward to seeing if Twelvetrees can ignite his back four too.

Pretty that's what it's going to be.

Geoff Parling?

British and Irish Lions lock Geoff Parling is unavailable for selection after sustaining a mild concussion during Tuesday afternoon's training session.

Billy Vunipola is so good they cloned him and put him at 8 and 20 according to ratsapprentice

Great to see Attwood there - Parling must be injured, no way Lawes should be there over him otherwise.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Lancaster put Brown on the wing with Yarde on the bench, to be honest.

Generally quite like the side, though. No glaring errors, for me - just minor grievances (i.e. would've liked to see Burns, and maybe Trinder, in there). I've got no major issue with Tomkins at 13 - really didn't like him last year, but he looks a lot better now.

Internationals have really snuck up on me, I didn't think they started for a few weeks, so vveerryy excited for this weekend now :D

Hasn't Trinder only just had his first week's training in a month? I like him as a player, but it's a little steep to throw him in the deep end this early.

Hopefully he'll get a run-out against Argentina, with the best of the two playing against the All Blacks.

Apparently Tom Youngs is an excellent scum half, just like his brother...

Alright team. Would probably have preferred to see Trinder at 13 and Ashton dropped. Wade being sent home makes me sad, as goes Parling getting injured because I'm willing to bet a lot of money that Stuart Barnes ignores that and talks all about how Lawes has forced his way into the squad.

Burns, Care and Wade can probably attribute part of their issue to the form their respective teams have shown so far.

Has Ashton done anything at all to merit still being in the side? His last few internationals have been useless, certainly nothing to keep him ahead of some of our other options.

His form at Sarries has improved, but he is still nowhere near the zenith he reached 2010-11. He's snuck back in more because he has been alright in a largely dominant team and Wade has been alright in a team that hasn't been at its best going forwards.

Fortunately he's not been quite as rubbish as last season.
Unfortunately he's still nowhere near the form he was when he was actually scoring tries.

Been playing well for Saracens, to be fair.
Not to the standard he was when in top form at Saints, but better than he has in a while.

In his defence, when England have attacked well (NZ, Scotland) he's scored. He's been atrocious in a poor side; I wouldn't write him completely off until he's crap in a good England side.
