2013 British and Irish Lions

Sexton will definitely tour if he's fit. I'd still want him to start but we'll see what happens when they get there.

Sexton will tour and start. No questions.
Even without injury, Sexton wasn't looking like the best fly-half this tournament. Throw in a while out of the game, and what has he done to earn it?

Maybe if he puts in a good shift at the end of this season...

Are you suggesting Farrell is a better player than Sexton?

Better form =/= better player ;)

Sexton would be my first choice, but long injury/not on best form beforehand (not off form, per se, just not lighting it up) strengthens the competitors chances (presumably Farrell is 2nd choice?).
Plenty of time for Sexton to get fit and firing before the tour, though - will be named in the squad injury or not.

I don't understand that to be honest. Sexton was the best 10 in the 1st round and got injured after 25-30 minutes against England, just as Ireland were getting into the match, he got injured and gave Farrell a chance, to be fair he's done very well but if Sexton can hit form in Aus I'd have no doubt he'll start.

Can't quite rule out a Jonny Wilkinson come back yet. Cool head, and he's been a consistent performer for Toulon (still top of the Top 14) for a long time now.

Cmac accept it Irish players are just not good and can never be seen to be good anyone who does is a biased fool.

I just don't get the Sexton hype.
He has never stood out for me for Ireland. Plays well for Leinster, but average for Ireland.

I think that's Kidney's fault more than anyone else's, the inconsistency of the side and slow ball has made him look quite bad but whenever Ireland have played well they have revolved around him.

'09 South Africa
'10 England
'11 England
'11 Australia (From play)
'12 New Zealand (2nd test)
'12 Argentina
'13 Wales

It's bad that since the world cup I don't even need my thumb to count our good performances

Yay! An excuse for me to post a tribute video.

I can actually cannot think of something Sexton cannot do that's needed from an outhalf.

all the Welsh players on the other hand...

Exactomundo and the English there's someone else I'm forgetting but I'm sure they don't matter.;)

Considering the Scottish & Welsh 10s aren't exactly setting the world on fire, Gatland would be mad not to at the very least consider him. Biggar seems to be improving, but he's not good enough to make the tour. But who else do you pick? If he's not going to pick JW he should pick Freddie Burns as his wildcard. That is if he's taking 3 10s or is it only 2?

I can't believe I've never seen 1:20 or 2:55 before - he' just simply world class and I don't think Farrell comes close.
