If you where Johnson, Gatland, Kidney, Robinson Mallet or whoever the French coach is, who would you pick as your squad? Pick away!

My Wales squad

Names in brackets are 'Maybes'

BACKS
Fullbacks- Lee Byrne, Jason Tovey
Wingers- Shane Williams, Leigh Halfpenny, Aled Brew, Richard Fussell (Tom James)
Centres- Jamie Roberts, James Hook, Jon Davies, Tom Shanklin (Andrew Bishop)
Fly-Halves- Stephen Jones, Dan Biggar
Scrum Halves- Dwayne Peel, Wayne Evans, Martin Roberts (Mike Phillips won't be fit; Gareth Cooper will probaly be picked despite being in bad form. I'd have Richie Rees on stand-by.)

FORWARDS
Props- Gethin Jenkins, Adam Jones, Hugh Gufftafson, Paul James (Duncan Jones, John Yapp and Craig Mitchell won't be fit, and I can't think of another tight-head.)
Hookers- Matthew Rees, Gareth Williams, Ken Owens (Richard Hibbard)
Locks- Alun Wyn Jones, Ian Gough, Luke Charteris, Ian Evans (Providing Evans can get some game time under his belt. otherwise, I'll go for Bradley Davies)
Back Row- Ryan Jones, Martyn Williams, Sam Warburton, Dan Lydiate, Jonathan Thomas, Andy Powell (Joe Bearman has pulled out, so I've put Powell in instead.)

My prefered starting XV:

1- G Jenkins
2- M Rees
3- A Jones
4- A W Jones
5- L Charteris
6- S Warburton
7- M Williams
8- R Jones (CAPTAIN)

9- D Peel
10- S Jones

11- S Williams
12- J Hook
13- J Roberts
14- A Brew (He's in better form than the others)
15- L Byrne

I may go on and do other nations, depending on how I feel.

Argh! You posted this thread as i was typing mine!

Anyway:

Angleterre

1. Payne (???)
2. Hartley
3. Wilson (??? - I only really know Sheridan and Vickery as England props, and as their both out atm, i don't know enough to suggest anyothers as i know nothing of any of them)
4. Shaw
5. Lawes (Borthwick's probably better for the lineout, but is lacking in...well everything else)
6. Tom Croft
7. Lewis Moody (el capitan)
8. Haskell
9. Hodgson
10. Flood (With Wilkinson on the bench for if we're getting hammered, as he's got great defense/can get us 3/6/9/12 points on the board from DGing everything he touches)
11. Monye
12. Flutey
13. Tait
14. Cueto
15. Foden (based on current form VS delon armitage)

Will probably get shot down (i'm looking Bullits way...) but i don't claim to know much about players

Lewis "Yellow Cards" Moody as Captain.

Wooden Spoon la la la[/b]
He does a decent job of at Leicester.
If Vickery's in, them him for Captain, but i don't know of any other captains in the squad i mentioned, so Moodys the obvious choice in my eyes

Nick Kennedy would start over Shaw for me. You have to look at players who could add something come 2011

13- J Roberts
14- A Brew (He's in better form than the others)
15- L Byrne[/b]

14/15.

I wouldnt pick Brew, although he is in good form Halfpenny has far more variation in his game. For a start he can nail the 40+m kicks which Jones can't. He is stronger and quicker than Brew so I'd put Leigh over Brew.

Good point, as much as I'd like him too, Shaw probably won't last until the world cup.
Suppose it depends whether the management want to be starting to piece together a worldcup squad, or give themselves the best chance of winning the 6N

Nick Easter or Jordan Crane. Not bloody vickery though, he shouldn't even be in the squad.
