Hi friends, I was discussing with my brother the other day. What color is the number of the England Rugby Shirt? I'd say it's black but he insisted that it's a very dark purple or maybe dark blue.

What do you think about it? I still think it's black but now I have a little doubt.

Black, and areas of deep shade can appear to take on a dark blue or deep violet shade when viewed on some types of flat-screen TV, particularly if on digital with a poor quality video stream.

Hi Conrad, shame about the weekend. Hope you bounce back.

It's black for me too.

Well the first thing I would be looking at is how you connect your TV to your digital receiver/Sky Box. If you are using Composite video plugs, then this could be part of the problem

COMPOSITE VIDEO

If HDMI is available, you should use that.

If not, the next best thing would be to use SCART.

And then S-Video (use the S-Video plug instead of yellow plug but still use the Red/White audio plugs as, unlike HDMI and SCART, S-Video contains no audio information)

Remember, this is a double ended arrangement. Use HDMI to HDMI, SCART to SCART or S-Video to S-Video, Adaptors like SCART to Composite are only going to be as good as the composite part. Same for S-Video.

Its a case of the composite video being the weakest link.

Note, once you go to HDMI, you cannot watch anything else unless it is through and HDMI connection.
Using the 360 on components for a few days until I was able to get a new HDMI cable was simply awful.
