What are you listening to?

Dont know why, but find this a real 'goosebumps' song.

Edited as I had the wrong link for it. The scene from the movie is far better.

Used to dismiss Bruce as burnout junk, but his early stuff is excellent. Bit of a jazz flavour to it.
Sancious was key to that sound, Wild, Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle is fantastic. Even better is the early live versions.

I haven't actually heard that before, it's a lot better than the album version and very interesting as a huge fan of the Boss. It seems very different to almost everything else he's done but the distinctive Springsteen sound is very much in there, especially towards the end. I'd say it took the spot on his playlist that songs like Jungleland, Point Blank and Land of Hope and Dreams take now.

Similar enough to this, completely different to the album version which I also like. Impressive how he can more than double the length of his songs and change them completely like this.

I love the first three albums by him. Live they sound gritty and imperfect. Little changes year to year, show to show.
Compare the changes between these:

Same song, same year.
There is a bootleg of the Main Point show available in Europe apparently. Will try to track it down.

If I could see any of his shows, I'd love to be at one where he does either "Wild, Innocent" or "Born to run" album in it's entirety.

His later stuff just sounds corny and overproduced (I laugh whenever I hear Born in the USA at Independence Day celebrations). I much prefer early recordings. Same goes for Dire Straits, still my favourite. Their later albums are ehh, and live is just too much. The early club sort of recordings just feel much better. Knopfler and Springsteen are just young guys trying to get started, no huge productions, no lights or concert halls. Simple instruments and songs.

Seriously doubt anyone will like this but it's an old friend doing the production, and the main scratching. I like the start, reminds me of Prefuse 73 and I like the end the 2:25 bit onwards:

I listened to the whole Hammersmith Odeon album last night, it really is vintage Springsteen, probably him at one of his peaks, I can't believe I'd only heard one or two of those before! As for his later stuff I like most of it, Born in the USA is a really great album, I'm on fire, Glory Days, Dancing in the Dark and My Hometown being some of his best work while the song itself has been ruined through complete misinterpretation and I'm pretty sure he doesn't play it in the States any more but it was fantastic live when I saw him. There was a bit of a drop in the quality of his music then for just under 20 years until he released the Rising which, in my opinion, is an album up there with the likes of Rumours. Wrecking Ball is also a very underrated album in my opinion, although I may be swayed by the fact that I saw most of it live, 'We Are Alive' became a song I thought little of and turned into an incredibly emotional and great piece in concert.

Going through all of this makes me really hope that he comes back to Ireland at least one more time because he really is in a league of his own when it comes to live performances!

My thighs ache but I feel like a beautiful salami also
