What are you listening to?

Not been listening to much music lately. Haven't got my speakers, and I can't be bothered to sit at my PC with headphones on. Been listening to the radio more whilst driving to and from work (always forget to change the CD's in the changer), and is it only me that thinks chart music may be picking up a little. It's been dire for so many years, full of terrible R n' B, and autotune, but there's been some decent stuff lately.

The one song that I always turn up when it comes on is:

Love everything about this tune. The piano at the beginning, the incredible voice of Jacob Banks, and the dnb.

Edit. interesting video. Maybe interrupts the song a bit too much, but quite powerful. Posted it before watching it btw.

Don't know about chart music in general, but Chase and Status have always been fantastic. Saw them live for my birthday once. Got all of my flat mates out. Awesome night.

I used to love metal. It was all I listened to. Then I went off it. This was 6 years ago. But the one band that has stuck with me was Opeth. ****ing fantastic band, deserve all the praise they get. Ghost of Perdition is one of my favourite songs, and damn, Deliverance... I know some people will say that it is boring, repeating the same riff for half the song. I just love it. And even those who dislike metal should be able to get behind Damnation.

not a fan of djent, because it's for pussies...but I'd be curious to read some opinions from non-metal people about this.

It's instrumental, and pure beauty. Makes ppl dream, enormous emotions:

I, too, am not a big fan of djent - don't mind periphary though.
I don't think I'd set out to specifically listen to them but they make good background noise.

Yeeeeeeeahhhh blooood. Proper mint chune like. Be donkin round my budroom 2 dis.
-DJ Groundhog

Ahem, I really like this song. If you're wondering about the lyrics it's about a journalist named Kappa who stepped on a landmine in the Indochina war and died. It details his last few hours and him being reunited with his girlfriend Taro who was also a journalist and died covering the Spanish Civil war when she was hit by a tank.
Video unrelated but still quite nice. All of Alt J's songs have an actual meaning, including sodomy. Tesselate is also very good.

not sure how much of that is joking around, but this song is a near masterpiece musically.

Btw, this thread is people just dumping stuff and leaving and nobody picking up on the stuff and dumping their own and leaving..

None at all.
I had the song on while browsing here/reddit and enjoyed it a lot - however I don't think I'd ever put on a periphery album and listen to the whole lot like I would with other bands.

for sure. But that song in particular is among some of the best stuff I've heard.
Okay, this would be downright embarrassing (if I actually gave a crap about reputation) but these kids I just discovered today and they're like 17 yo, Aussies, and write their own stuff. I'm very impressed with the catchiness of the chorus they managed. Not my thing at all, but impressive song-writing for small children:

At the time that was recorded the drummer was 14 and the guitarist was 16.

they're my third favorite death metal band, I know them inside out :p
Vogg is the most gifted guitarist I've ever heard in terms of lead+rhythm combined. Shhitty fifth album though without you know who.
