What are you listening to?

edit: And if you don't like Converge, then, well...
Gawd, blast from my past. Have that album sitting around somewhere in my room.

Keep the heavy going:

I've never really understood Converge, bands of their ilk just always sound like watered down grind to me...

Last year someone recommended Tribes to me - easily now my favourite band going. Each song really strikes a chord with me - their first album Baby is amazing for those who are nostalgic of the 90's. They're like Oasis meets The Pixies - but also seem to have an earlier 70's sound to it. Anyway fully recommend it - without getting gushy - when I broke up with my GF last year and played 'Nightdriving' probably 100 times over that week. They seem to be gaining a bit of momentum now as well with their second album Wish to Scream. I know they hit #20 in the U.K so probably many know them over there - but in NZ people don't know wtf I'm talking about.

For me, a lot of grind/death metal feels too lifeless, too sterile. I listen to a bit, and like the odd track from the more brutal end of the spectrum, but mostly I need to something mixed in to keep it interesting. Bands like Converge that come more from the punk end of the spectrum interest me more as a rule than stuff like Akercoke, Nile, Cryptopsy etc.etc.

Nickelback have a bunch of great songs - I hate all the blanket statements made about bands. I thought it was only the internet population under 15 who hated Nickelback due to them jumping on the bandwagon. The number of times I've seen people say they hate Nickelback but lover Foo Fighters is hilarious.

But yeah, the bands/singers etc. with the most songs on my phone are Nickelback, Lifehouse, Taylor Swift and the Goo Goo Dolls. Also a bunch from Daughtry, Keane, Needtobreathe etc...

I think there might be a typo in there.
I think it should read "under 15% of the population think Nickelback are a good band"

Comparing Foo Fighters and Nickelback is akin to comparing chalk and cheese.

Your phone's song list sounds the soundtrack to my nightmares

Nickelback's first album, 'Silver Side Up' was a decent enough affair, and I listened to it quite a bit when it was released, but I'm another who now find them highly annoying.

Evanescence? UUggghhh
That "nu-metal" ****e era was full of terrible bands and spawned the likes of Evanescence, Creed, LifeHouse, Nickleback, LimpBizkit etc.

Nothing wrong with Creed, Weathered was a great album.

I'm torn with Limp Bizkit, they haven't aged very well at all, but they still have a few decent tracks. I still enjoy their cover of 'Behind Blue Eyes' for instance.

LUCKILY, Queens of the Stone Age are back to save rock music with a new album ( called ...like clockwork).

QotSA are quality.

but I'll straight up own to genuinely liking Linkin Park.

Nothing wrong with Linkin Park. Quality band.

Yessir. Just about the only artist that I liked when I was in Year 6 (what age was that?) and still like at 22.

Just rediscovered A Perfect Circle. Anyone a fan of them/Tool?

Yup, I like A Perfect Circle. Thirteenth Step is a quality album from beginning to end. Can't say the same about their others, but there's a few decent tracks amongst them.

I have yet to properly listen to Tool, and I feel terrible for saying so. They are my brothers favourite band, and he keeps telling me to start listening to them.

I quite like a few Limp Bizkit tracks - I'm not going to sit around and listen to their discography, but Eat You Alive is a belter, and some of the other singles too.

Was a huge huge fan of Linkin Park back in the day, and still have a soft spot for Hybrid Theory.

Was at longitude yesterday, one of the acts was Django Django. I'd never heard of them before, they've quite an interesting style and a sound I haven't really heard before.

I need an evening wasted.

1st up my Autobiographical song - Mr Loverman

Standard

Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl, first up for me. Takes me back.

That brings me onto something. Anyone remember the brief period of time when listening to Atlantic 252 became the norm instead of Radio 1? Maybe around '98?

Have you come across the "Tiger Took My Family" one yet.

Typical 90's Cheese

Oh god yes. Atlantic 252 was brilliant! It was earlier than 98 though, i'd go more 92/93
