Western Force v British & Irish Lions - 5/6/13

I understand regional, national loyalty but you guys have to start being a bit more objective, Healy might be in some peoples (not most) test sides but do you really see Gatland picking him over Jenkins? The bulk of this team will be midweek, injury and possibly a few like Maitland and Hogg may get dropped and cause a few places to come up but otherwise I dont see Gatland changing much in the Saturday team.

I can see Gatland picking Healy over Jenkins. Mainly because anyone who has watched the game over the past 18 months would do the same! Jenkins is lucky to be touring let alone a guaranteed starter.

The Saturday team so far was devoid of a dozen or so players that were not available remember.

I'm interested as to how you would know this? And also this....

Johnny Sexton just doesn't have as nice a hammer to unleash.

You've said very similar stuff before and agreed when I've said as much to you.

Stop being weird about hammers.

Man, what's your problem with Gethin duck? One of Wales' all time great players and you just hang him out to dry after a season where he's been given little opportunities. You constantly state his final season at the Blues as a reason to back-up your opinion that he's now sh*t, without taking into account the calibre of player he had alongside him, not to mention the amount of injuries he suffered.

Given game-time, like he was given during the 6 nations, Gethin is still a great prop.

I would also have Healy as front runner atm, especially considering Jenkins' current injury, but I won't write Jenkins off yet.

Not denying he has been a great player. But I disagree with the excuses made for performance at Toulon which is frankly rubbish (he was not getting game time because he was poor, not the other way round), and also in recent times a lot of the "improvement" made in the 6 Nations for example is just coat tailing off Adam (he didn't do much after the 6N for Toulon). And he has struggled with nearly every other tighthead over the past few years whether it be Vickery, Filise, Paul James (as a tighthead), Andrews, Jarvis, Hayman or Kubriashvili. Some of those aren't bad tightheads at all. His loose work is slightly slower than it has been in the past as well with a few ****ling injuries here and there and putting on a bit of podge, in short he is past his best and Healy is more dynamic, younger, fresher and faster. Not to say that Gethin ihasn't been a quality player.

Greenwood literally did though - always wore 13 despite playing inside centre :p

Greenwood wore 13 as he played most of his career at centre with Mike Catt who was a 10/12 and less of a 13, so Greenwood moved to 13. He wore 12 for England and the Lions as well a few times.

Pity we didn't find out who'd win in 2001.

Ah I knew Greenwood was injured for the tests and couldn't remember the status before that.

Why The hell its not like they can make the finals or can spoil it for the tahs! if the lions stack on the points ill be changing the Chanel to state of origin thats for sure

The Force are desperate for wins. They can’t make the finals, but finishing the season yet again near the bottom is not going to be good for the club, the coach the supporters etc Finishing the season in 10th or better would be seen as a success and something we can build on fro 2014. If we fielded a full strength side against the Lions and picked up injuries, we’d be f*cked. We don’t have any depth with the squad. Last year we ended up recruiting club players from Sydney with zero Super rugby experience because of injuries. Compare this to clubs like the Crusaders who have All Blacks sitting on the bench that they can call upon. It’s sh*t, because it won’t be a contest for the Lions. I’d love a full strength Force side to take on the Lions, but from a coach and club perspective, I totally understand why they are going for a 2nd XV.

If we keep playing 2nd XV club teams, they aren't going to know what'll hit them in the first test.. very disappointing.

The wallabies don't have any better though, in fact they have less. At least we're playing teams with 15 players the wallabies can only train with 10 against them at any given time unless they go to shute shield teams for players which isn't a high standerd.

The teams we come up against will be going hard and trying to injury players I have no doubt about that.

our players will be carrying knives in the warm up games... for self defence purposes only :)

Has to be Leigh. Sexton was poor in HK while Leigh has greater range and is the two time 6N top point scorer.

Personally, it has to be Sexton at this stage. Yes, I want Halfpenny to keep his eye in, but if he does not make the test XV, then one of the fly-halves will be kicking and they must be kept sharper. We know one of the fly-halves will be there; we don't know Halfpenny will be. You might argue this is rather unlikely, with some justification, but between the talent he is competing with for that back-three slot and the possibility of injury, I don't think its unlikely enough.

Damn realised this is the worst possible backrow for Heaslip to impress the people who'll only think he played well if he makes big carries.

Just discovered I'm getting this match here in the States. Woo! Pretty sure the Lions will take it, I just hope it's not a lopsided, blowout score.

Can anyone tell me what's the story with Sky online? I'm working tomorrow but I'll be able to watch online and I'm presuming Sky will be the best stream. I'm just not sure if I'm able to get it. I have Sky+ (not hd) and I have Sky Sports, do I qualify?

I don't have Sky myself, but I believe so.
You have to register on Sky Go:

Presumably in the name of the bill payer, and then go from there.

You have to give the name and the viewing card number/account number of the subscriber with full sports coverage to be able to watch it on Sky Go and then only on two devices and they can only be changed once a month. To download you have to pay an extra £5 per month for Sky Go Extra......................but this entitled 4 devices to be used!!

Please also note that this is for UK resident subscribers and users only...anyone clocking on the internet tp watch Sky Go or Extra from an ISP outside of the UK will not have access.......................need I say any more?!
