Week 3: Bulls v Highlanders

All due respect to Vainakolo but it has been a good thing for him to be replaced this year and poki has fired.

Good on Kade, no-one wanted him and when a man is desperate he will fire. However him and Vainikolo are similar players in stature and in strength. IMO Kade has been standing right behind the door when oppertunity knocked and oppertunity has liked the look of his door. He got some good oppertunites in the game and took them but I think that had Vainikolo had played and got those same oppertunities he would have done the same. Im not trying to compare the two, I just feel that oppertunities opened up for Kade Poki on the weekend and I hope it continues to do so.

Nah Poki made good use of his opportunites, i'm sure that Vainikolo would have bombed those chances.
Vainikolo plays like an American Football player, when he gets the ball he forgets about kicking or passing and just tucks it away and runs as far as he can. He ends up losing his support and either dies with it or throws bad passes once he knows he cant go any further. Hes talented, but needs to go back to club rugby and learn how to play before he gets another shot at the big time.

Poki on the other hand has all the same tricks as Vainikolo (hard running, pace, crazy step ect..) but he is also great at finding space and getting opportunities for other people. Hes got a touch background and it really shows.

Mmmm what a disappointing display by the Bulls. Really a lack of commitment especially on defense, I do expect them to bounce back though and I know they know the fans expect it from the too. The Bulls were pretty poor in their first 2 games and I thought they would have corrected those mistakes but they didn't, luckily they will have a break now and do some soul searching. I understand why Victor complained so much as I feel the Highlanders should have got maybe 2 yellows for their negative play but geez Victor you and Fourie need to play the game till the whistle blows. WTF is Spies doing? He has little go forward and he can't defend! Wynand Olivier rarely passes the ball etc. Catch a wake up guys.

Bulls played bad while the highlanders played better rugby and deserved to win. Hopefully wynand will learn to pass the ball when someone else is in a better position. Maybe this loss is a good thing for the Bulls players as it will bring back the fire we know they can play with.

Maybe he should go to league as a centre.

Maybe they came out too relaxed and underestimated the Highlanders.

I think they were a bit relaxed, like the Proteas against the Poms yesterday.

Thats the thing with the Proteas, they're supergood but they lose their way somehow. The Poms on the other hand has improved vastly over the last 3 years or so. The saying 'take it easy' must be popular in South Africa at the moment.

I don't think they underestimated the Highlanders, they knew that HL will come out guns blazing according to their site. At the end of the day the Bulls played poorly and did not deserve winning. Like I said previously the Highlanders outclassed the Bulls and deserved winning. Hopefully this will serve as the much needed wakeup call my team needs in order to proceed further in the competition. <O:p</O:p

Yeah and towards the end they did wake up didnt they but it was too late. You are right, the Bulls have to learn from their mistakes, recover and take away the positives because thats the only positive thing to do right now.

Sam by the way the quote you have about the "author unknown" must be the best quote I have heard in my lifetime. Bulls will have to go back to the drawing board to improve their game. I don't think the stormers will lose against the Highlanders thought there defence system is better than the Bulls at the moment.<O:p</O:p

It's an expression that I'm fond of. The quote was actually "Don't argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience." Famously said by the comedian Greg King.<!-- begin bottom -->

Great now I know, and don't have to bother to look it up on the net.

Our defense isn't what it was last year or what the Shark's aer right now. We will miss Fourie at 13 as well as Burger in defense.

Our attack is yet to look convincing as well this year so TBH I am a bit concerned about the Highlanders game; they are playing good rugby and more inportantly they are playing as a team, with confidence and for the the whole 80.

That said I do feel we will up our game for the Highlanders as we only had two outings yet and both were derbies which are always a tight affair. We have ample warning as the Highlanders won't be changing what is working for them and I think the intense heat also played a big factor against the Cheetahs.

... erm probably wrong thread LOL. Sorry.

I really do hope that the Bulls pick their game up but I was glad for the money I made off of betting against them. The same counts for teh Boks; we saw last year that the teams who were successful were the fit teams looking to keep ball in hand and play some rugby. Hope the Bulls and Springbokke staff and players take note and adapt accordingly.

I am sure the Springboks will look a different squad this coming WC if senior players in different provincial squads don't put up their hands in the Super 15. But then again I might be wrong, SA players will feel the heat, if they don't perform, they might not be considered for the WC. Hope Frans Ludeke can make the necessary changes to their game, would not like to see players get chosen on their name, but rather on their performance.<O:p</O:p

Well Tony Brown wasn't bad at all I thought...Looked to be in his fifties though....:D

Yeah I might have to change it soon, 'cos it sounds like Im never stupid when in actual fact I can be at times lol.

Good to see the Highlanders win over the Bulls.
Who knows, they might play the final.

At least it's just a quote that applies for anyone, when we know we are right. It can be when we are wrong that we can be the stupid one but that is what makes this quote so special.:D

As predicted by Big Shots the smaller unions are going to have a big impact on this year's super 15.

Poki played a really good game. ( just watched the highlights)
