London Irish have announced the capture of Munster's Australian back Paul Warwick on a three-year contract.

Warwick will link up with London side for the start of next season, having agreed a deal that will keep him in the Guinness Premiership until 2012.[/b]

That's a fantastic signing for London Irish. He's arguably been the form 10 for Munster this season.

f*** sake that is f***ing terrible news. He is a terrific player. I'm really gutted now. :( Hope he leaves with a HEC and ML medal in his pocket....

If he was Irish he would be starting for Club and Country I reckon.

huge loss for Munster, great signing for Irish, he's been key to Munster's success so far this season and will be no doubt for the rest of it, but when I heard talk of him leaving I assumed it was just to get a better deal with Munster.

That's what I was hoping. Apparently the PAG wouldn't let us give him a long term deal which is absolutely ridiculous considering what they are letter Leinster do in regard to foreign Fly Halves :(

wouldn't be surprised to see Munster make a move for Keatley now and get him from under the noses of Leinster as Cheika persists with Dr Phil and Nacewa

Leinster are donating flyhalves to other teams left, right and centre. Ian Keatley, Andy Dunne, Eoghan Hickey ;) ....but I take your point.

Yep, I could see them move for Keatley. Jonny Sexton could also be an option - he's not getting a look in at Leinster at present and would be a far better backup option for Ronan O'Gara than Jeremy Manning. He could move to the Premiership but it would likely be to a lower ranked team which would hurt his international chances.

I still think we'd be mad to let Sexton go, he hasn't let us down but unfortunately Cheika doesn't seem to have too much confidence in him, he easily forgot his performance at home to Wasps, which by far the best performance by any of the 10s we have this season.

Ah ******. That's really put a hippo on my ipod.

Hopefully we'll get Keatley and Connacht can have O'Conner and then there's at least one up and coming Irish outhalf at each province.

Is Topoki on his way out too?

I've heard something about Tipoki leaving but nothing concrete in terms of where he's going. Could well be retiring.

I won't disagree with that. He's a good player who's going through a rough patch in his form. Class is permanent, form is temporary - Sexton will regain his form before long.

Looking at it from Sexton's point of view though and I can see why he may want out. Last summer he only signed a one year deal with Leinster to see how things panned out. With a fully fit backline, he's failed to make the 22 man matchday squad. He probably also sees another future Leinster player, Ian Keatley, blocking his path before too long. Beyond Nacewa, Contepomi and Keatley, there's also Ian McKinley, an outstanding talent playing for UCD. Somewhere like Munster, he'd be sure to make the 22 with quite a few chances to start. O'Gara won't be around in 3 years time. Sexton could potentially be the starting flyhalf for Munster once O'Gara retires - Andrew Burke is the only alternative but he won't be ready for another few years (and may need a stint with Connacht first).

All news of Paul warwick has dissapeared from the RTE and London Irish websites! Don't give up hope yet lads!

I think Tipoki said that his stay with Munster would only be two years long. That would imply he'd be off in the summer. Keith Earls and Barry Murphy should be more than capable of filling the void.

Finding a new fullback is Munster's most pressing need. Mils Muliaina has said he wants to play in Europe........

Denis Hurley and someone like Fionn Carr would do me fine, but it looks like Paul is staying and this was all Contract Renegotiation tactics.

Well I suppose he can come to Munster if he wants. I suppose.

Think Shaum Payne should just come back though.

Edit: and yes Carr I think would be a fantastic signing for Munster.

Topoki is 33.. not young my any means.. but warwick going is terrible news

Bad news for Munster, good news for London Irish.

I always thought he would be a top contender for 10 in Ireland, if.

the latter wouldn't surprise me especially given how settled he is in the area.

strange though, given these quotes

"Quality not quantity has been the philosophy underlying our recruitment policy, so when the opportunity came to sign a top-class player like Paul Warwick we jumped at the chance," said London Irish head coach Toby Booth.

"Paul is a match-winning player whose performances at fly-half and full-back speak for themselves. He is a welcome addition as we continue to build a world-class squad at London Irish."

Wow, great swipe from Irish.
He's been awesome for Munster recently and will be a big loss for them; unless they recruit well in the Summer.
