Yea completely his own fault, he was a bloody idiot for doing it. But you shouldve seen the media and public backlash...probably the biggest I've ever seen. They just completely tore him up. The guy made a really shitty mistake but imo he didn't deserve the treatment he got, it was way overkill. That's what comes with being a rugby player in NZ though I suppose... especially a star AB.

Something to be said for the anonymity of touring with lesser sides then......

What happened to Aaron Smith was nothingcompared to what happened to Keith Murdoch back in the 70's.
Murdoch was a monster lock set for an amazing career as an AB.
One incident in a Welsh boozer and he was never seen again in NZ.
